i was putting in my heads today most everyone does not mention draining the block in the instructions. well there is a easy way to do it when you remove your waterpump. just slide some tubing 3/32 inch in the lower coolent hole for the waterpump. and send it down to the bottom of the waterjacket in the block. then put a drain pan on the ground and induce a vac. i used compressed air across the end of the tube till liquid came out "ie venturi effect".
then repeat for other side. boy it made cleaning up the cylenders and deck surface a breaze being there was no coolent flying around. <img border="0" alt="[barf]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_barf.gif" />

Good tip, but it easier to just remove the two freeze plugs on the block. There is one above the starter and one next to the alternator.
It makes coolant cleanup very easy after doing this.

Hey George,
You've been a busy beaver, huh!
Let me know how you make out, if you decide to go to E-Town or ATCO- let me know so we can meet up.
I've got my valves, springs, titanium retainers, 5.7 blank heads.. almost ready to send them out.
