Default 408 with prc 2.5 5.3 heads?

I just got a 408 and am wondering - will my tsp prc 2.5r 5.3 heads work well with the 408? Does anyone have any experience with this setup? It looks like EVERYONE is running afr 225s or et 245s on their 408's.

With that many cubes, you might want something with a tad bit bigger runner to supply it with enough air...

I'd probably just call up one of the sponsors and get their opinion as well.

Good luck.

Well man, I'm not saying you can't by any means...those may make great power on what you are building...

I was just throwing a thought out there....call TSP...they'll set you straight!

hehe yeah - the only reason i have questions on this are because:

1) no one is really running them on a 408
2) the guy i know of who is says they werent doing too well on the 408 even though it appeared that he was making good power

strange! hoping for TSP to chime in

if it's the 230 cc version you'll be ok, the only question is the heads are made for 3.90" bore..

the first run 5.3 heads had big runners, around that cc i think..if you have the newer R heads they may have smaller runners....i guess you'll have to call TSP to find out

The new version has 220cc intake runners...and I would think they could set them up for a larger bore.

Yes you can run them, you will prolly leave 20>25rwhp (guestimate)

I use those on my 370 and they are making good power, not the best but good. Don't go too big on the cam, use like a 240/244 and maximise compression and DCR
