sounds good <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
Is it just me or does 4.080 bore sound awfully big for a big nitrous shot? Looking forward to hearing the final results on your combo <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
Cheers,
Chris

Cam: 236/236 .601/.601 on 112lca. the extra cubes smooth out the lumpiness a bit, but still a great chop in the idle. yes, the 4.08" bore will raise a few eyebrows. BUT, i had the lower water jackets filled with Rock Block for added strength.

i posted about 2 months ago that i was having a 389 iron block built as a replacement motor to my blown up stock one. Finally, the motor is in!! its been in for 2 weeks now. I have been Edit tuning since then to dial in Idle and cruise, which has been a challenge with my big, lumpy cam. I finally have it dialed in. Ive also done a bit of dyno tuning to get WOT in some sort of order while the motor is still breaking in. Even with shutting down at 5k rpm, only 200 miles on the motor and rudimentary WOT tuning, i pulled 435-ish rwhp and 450-ish rwtq!!! The graphs were still climbing when i shut down early!! That was with an AFR with more curves that a Magic Mountain Roller coaster. I now have 600 miles on the motor and will put it back on the dyno later this week to finish the WOT tuning and a final hp/tq pull. this motor pulls like crazy!!
The Stats: LQ4 6.0L block bored out to 4.08" with offset ground crank to 3.72". Forged Ross Nitrous pistons, forged Eagle SIR long rods, custom grind Comp Cams cam, Rollmaster true double roller timing chain set, personally ported LS6 heads with 2.02/1.6 Manley HD valves, CC918 springs, Ti retainers. The short block was built at SD Racing Enterprises, Aguila, Az, by Shirl Dickey himself. The motor is incredible. For the budget i allowed (very tight), i challenge anyone to do better for 2x the money. Had i had the extra $3-4K, i would have had Shirl stuff the super stroker crank set in it. But, judging from the prelim #'s, I will be VERY dam close to those 422+ strokers!! All for 1/2 the price. that's math i like. Lots of people on the other forums have emailed me for other details. I do NOT notice any appreciable difference in weight (iron block is 80lbs heavier). car still turns on rails. The straight line power is nearly unmanageable; i can be rolling in 2nd or 3rd and punch it and the tires (345/30/19 Pilots out back) go up in huge smoke. I dont even have the nitrous re-plumbed yet. while the motor was out, i built a separate fuel system just for the nitrous. Holley fuel pump, Aeroquip regulator feed the 2 nitrous fuel noids. I wont be able to use it this winter since it rains alot here in Portland Or and i am already seriously traction-limited. I will post a final, tuned, dyno pull as soon as i get it.
Big thanks to Shirl Dickey for this massively bad-assed motor. He definitely knows his LSx motors.

should not run hot with the filler unless it was filled completly.
is that a solid roller or a hyd roller cam?
sounds like a pretty good setup to me.

the motor did run hot the first 200 miles. even with both fans programmed On early and a 160F stat, the motor would run at 205F at cruise @ 68F ambient temp. now that the motor is a bit broke in (600mi), the motor runs too cold!! At the same ambient temp, the motor runs at 168F at cruise. I have reprogrammed the 2nd fan to come on later. now motor runs at 180F, still a bit cool.

How much did it cost to get the crank ground offset? You have almost the exact same set up as I have planned, except for the crank (plan to get a 4.00") and a smaller cam. Your #'s looks to be very close to the few 409's I've seen. Congrats.
