Default problem after cam install.

I just put in the 230/224. I have the slp double chain. I hooked everything up tonight. I pulled it out and let it idle for a few minutes. I had an ses light before the cam for the egr valve. It idle fine before I took it for alittle ride. I came to a stop sign and the car dropped to about 300-400 rpm. As I was driving it the ses light to blink. I brought it home and parked it. If anyone could give me a clue to what is going on. I had the battery disconnected for 3 weeks. I left the hpp3 programmed into. If anyone could help me I would appreciate it alot. Thanks

Thanks
Jeremie

You are gonna need to drill your throtle plate hole up to get a better idle . Are you running the stock pcm tuning? Then you need to see what code your throwing probably misfires. This car would benefit greatly with LS1 edit & the throttle plate modifications.

I have never done a cam that big without having to drill the throttle blade. Plain and simple, the engine needs a lot more air to run now. Also, the PCM takes awhile to figure out there is a cam in there. So you can start it, let it run for awhile, and 5 minutes later it'll start searching. The longer it runs, the more it goes crazy. Eventually you'll HAVE to drill the TB blade just to get it to run. Then you definitely want to have the programming done.

That size cam will most likely need some PCM tuning. The hole in the TB blades is a definate! That's quite a bit of duration with stock programming. The HPP3 isn't worth a hill of beans. Find someone who can tune with LS1 edit and has a dyno!

It acts like it has a missfire. I'll have to do drill the throttle blade. what size drill bit should I use?? I still running stock tuning so far. I'm saving to have the pcm redone.

thanks

6speed or auto?

I have mine at 1/4" hole with the TR230

Did you check your plugs/wires? You might have a wire loose or fouled a plug letting it idle so long.

6 speed. I think I might have fouled one. I'll check the plug tomorrow.

The flashing SES is a random misfire and is very common with these aftermarket cams <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

so how do I get rid of it picking them up as random missfires?? how big do I drill the tb blade?? and see if my plugs fouled. Would this get rid of some of my problem??

thanks
