598 lift is not enough to say if its a DD cam or not. You need to list all the specs of the cam: duration, lsa, and lift.

And before you get a cam it would be wise to get full exhaust and intake mods first. Oh and did anyone mention a stall yet?

mine runs pretty damn good without a stall but my duration is 214/230. it would definitely run a lot better with a 3600 or so but still pretty quick without one.

and the lift on my cam is .601/.613 with a 112 lsa and its my DD

o and if you have 2.73 gears in the rear, you may want to consider changing them....ESPECIALLY if you're not gonna do a stall right away

CONVERTER BEFORE CAM!

Get a torque converter before a cam. It is really that simple and inarguable. It is constantly being discussed on here by people who want a cam first (I used to be one of them). Do yourself a favor and get the converter first.

The stock converter is far too 'tight' for even the stock cam. Even if you ignore the fact that the new, larger cam will really match up to the larger converter and suck on the stock converter, there is still the fact that a good converter/sticky tire (such as drag radials) combination will increase your performance (acceleration) more than a cam. The SOTP (seat of the pants) change with a converter swap is night and day. It is the single most important modifcation for an A4.

As to size of a cam...I daily drive my car with an MS3 (237/242 .603/.609 113) and a 4,000 stall speed converter. It's fun.
