The 2001 LS6 heads or the 2002 LS6 heads? They would be going on a 98 LS1 that's going to be stroker to 382 ci. It will also have a set of FLP long tube headers and y-pipe, a B&B triflo catback, a Whisper lid and GMS MAF and LS6 intake.

I'm toying with the idea of getting a bigger cam as well, but I was wondering if I stayed with the stock cam, which of the two would be better for a 382? the 01 LS6 heads or the 02 LS6 heads? Or would it be better to just port the stock LS1 heads that I have?

I've never heard of there being any difference between years with LS6 heads.

Ported LS1 heads would flow better than unported LS6 heads. Personally, I'd go with ported LS6 heads. Choose your porter wisely.

Well, I don't know either, but I have two different part numbers for BARE LS6 heads and they come with 2 different prices at GMPartsDirect.com....

2001 LS6 BARE Cylinder head

2002 LS6 BARE Cylinder head
12564825 - $534.60 (gmpartsdirect.com, shipping not included)

So are they the same? If not, would it matter which I got if I was going to port them?
