Default Need a machine shop in Dallas, TX area

Can anyone recommend a good machine shop where I can take my block to get honed? Possibly sleeved? I'm looking for someone in the Dallas area that has experience (preferable good experience) with LS1s. I live in Mckinney, but I can take it a little ways if necessary (Plano,Dallas, Richardson, Irving, etc...) Any recommendations?

Thanks,
Erik

I don't know about resleeving, but I do know that Ken Barr (I think in Garland?) has experience with LS1's. He's even machined and built a short-block for a C5R. Resleeving is still iffy at best, so I wouldn't recommend it...just my opinion.

Thanks for the info. Do you have a phone number? I also don't like the idea of sleeving the block, but I guess I'll have to see what I've got to work with first. My cylinder walls look ok to me, but I'm not a cylinder hone

It would be ideal if I could get away with no work necessary, but I'm not going ot hold my breath.

Anyone else?

Ok if Kim Barr cannot do the trick then I would contact Wells Racing, ask for Dennis. I am going to call them and find out if they can do it, so I will get back to you. And if you have a lot of cash then there is Rehr-Morrison.
Later,
Bart

I spoke to Wells and they said that they will need a guinea pig block. They need one to experiment with and that they see no reason that they could not get the job done, thought this might help.

So, what's Wells number? Where are they located? And since they want to "experiment", will I get a break in the cost or will that mean that I'll have to empty the pocket book?

Thanks again,
Erik

Hey Bart, thanks for all the help. Hopefully though, I hope I don't need to re-sleeve the block. I'm going to get it honed first and then we'll see.

Thanks again!

Al Weiss is in Witchita Falls. A bit out of the way, but if he's good enough for Eddie Hill, he's good enough for me.
