Default JPR heads/tr224 cam dyno#'s

went to JD's high performance today to get car dynoed! let's start with the bad news first; rings on car is shot, smoking real bad!!even with the car smoking the way it was,it still dyoned at 406hp and 395lb torque. not bad considering the bad ring problem and no pcm programming...don't get me wrong, the car runs strong, real strong!a lot more to get out of the car, once i get those rings replaced and ls1 edit programming. also hp reading would have been a lot higher with stock gears, i have 4:10gears! still real good power...stay tuned, car is under construction again!! BigWilly style!!! we'll be ready for next spring!! trust me!! work your magic!, JOE!!!

Real nice numbers

You say the rings are shot ... How many miles do you have on that engine?

Lots of blue smoke in the shop on all the pulls, we had to wait a few minuits just to clear the air before another pull, He has stock programming so we could only turn it up to 6,200 rpm and the power was still rising before the rev limiter shut it down. He has the last series of our S2's from about 5 months ago. 400 rwh came in at 5,600 rpm and carried out untill the rev limiter shut it down Max torque came in at 4,700. More in store for his project so stay tunned!

Joe.

What would ruin a set of rings in only 11K miles?

Lots of nitrous through the engine?

***** has never had NOS on his car, there is an oil consumption campaign for the rings to be replaced that he missed out on, I even blocked off the PCV and breather a couple weeks ago to isolate this problem and that didn't help at all. I didn't want to bring this up but, the last shop that installed there so-called "heads and cam" package on his car only dynoed the best of 340 RWH and crap for torque, thats where all this oil consumption problem seem to have started but who knows? He then came to my shop for our package, made a ton more power, but only aggrivated the oil consumption problem further i.e. more cyl pressure so once the rings get changed, I know there is more power in it.

It was cool hanging out with you guys again today. I feel bad for you Will, I know you didn't want it to be the rings, but at least you know what it is now.

That's great to see a nice square power setup, i.e. equal hp vs. torque. Way to go Joe for another job well done.

Now get off the net and get my stuff cooking.... (Just kidding)

Hey Will it was nice meeting ya today! Your car put down some nice numbers today. Sucks that your rings are shot like that. Get that oil consuption fixed and that thing edited to bring up your timing and such. then get ready to hold on tight cause that thing is gonna be insane!!!! TO bad you didn't get those bad rings taken care of before ya had the heads done. I can't beleive the nubers it put down with it burning oil like that and with the stock programing still in it. Another great job Joe!

Thanks for Bringing those headers for me to Joe. Saved me a drive.

Testing the rings is as simple as a leakdown test. (Takes all of 5-10 minutes to do and you'll know for sure if the rings are shot)

If you block off the PCV all together you can get blowby from the increase in crankcase pressure. It also causes ring flutter and ring sealing problems as well. I would do a leakdown test to be positive it is the rings.

Nice numbers, with AF tuning and raised rev limiter you should pick up a lot!
Good luck!
Chris
