For you Joel, new dyno #'s (471.6rwhp, 505rwtq)
Joel,
Hi, how are you? Been a while since we chatted.
I took the day off to work on the Formula and to redo the AF.
I went to Speed Inc., and basically while they working on about four cars, I changed my plugs and wires.
We started dynoing the car and realized that my 85mm MAF was not working properly so we swapped on a stock MAF with the screen on... not sure what car it came off of...

Sorry Chris, but I had to dyno on 28" slicks.
I'm pretty impressed with the numbers, considering I dynoed on big slicks and through a Moser 9" with 4.11 gears.
We added a bunch of fuel the motor and it loved it. I think in the end we had it around 12:1 AF and had either 25 or 26 degrees of timing in it. I could have tuned on race gas but elected not to.

Very Impressive John! Especially through a nine inch with 4.11's. Sean Gustin lost 19hp at the wheel on his head/cam car going from stock 3.42 rear to the nine with 4.11's and xtracajunss lost 24hp.Congrats

I'm sure this motor would do 490-500rwhp in a M6 car on radials.
I got the idea to check the MAF from Nine Nuts.
On the dynosheets you could see the AF jumping around like crazy.

GREAT numbers <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
I told you to change that MAF about what 15 times?? LOL!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
With that AF you could probably run 28 degrees with 94 octane (30 degrees on 100 octane/94 octane mix)
That would likely give you another 8-10+RWHP.
You would be VERY close to or OVER 500RWHP with radials and stock rear through the A4.
Yesterday I swapped cams to a custom ARE single pattern from my 226/234 112 .560/.560 lift XE cam.
I picked up 24RWHP/15RWTQ from the cam swap and 1 tuning change heheh <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" /> (Went up 1 degree of timing to 28 degrees and made one adjustment to AF (still rich above 6000rpm.)
Congrats again now hit the track <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Re: For you Joel, new dyno #'s (471.6rwhp, 505rwtq)
ARE asked me to go to TR6's.
Pipparonci, yes you told me to put a stock MAF back on too. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
Yeah we are at 26 degrees of timing, mostly pump gas, and the last AF was about 11.9:1.
I expect the track AF to be like 12.4-12.5, so I anticipate picking upmph at the 1/8th and in the quarter. We've gone from a 13.0:1 AF to 11.9-12.0:1 AF in a car that has been going about 98 at the 1/8th but only 122-123mph in the 1/4.
I'll be swapping a 2001-2002 stock MAF on for the balance of the year.
I think a 100 octane race gas tune would find us another 20 rwhp if I also put the car on radials. Chris we don't like the idea of 28 degrees and mostly pump gas with the amount of fuel we've had to stuff in the motor. Based on the amount of fuel we've added my compression ratio is up there. I won't bother with a 94 octane tune I'll just go straight to a 100 octane tune.
If I had time I would do a X pipe with dual bullets and see what happens... I am currently dynoing thru 2.5 H pipe and twin Borla XR1 sportsman mufflers... Not even open headers. I think I have the best sounding LS1 exhaust I have ever heard.
Thanks for the all the help from you guys, you know who you are. Some folks like to read my ongoing good/bad/bad/bad/good/bad/good chapters in the history of my car. I would have been more aggressive about the car this summer but the mysterious backfire problem (bad tuning) kicked my ***, and I could not swing a trailer just after buying the Tahoe, so I was not super aggressive about hitting the track on a weekly basis. Lately when the car is good I have hit the track every week. I have been super lazy about scanning my car on runs, and I won't be anymore.
I won't be able to run the car this week maybe on Saturday or Sunday. I left the FTRA at HackerJoe's bodyshop so I have to go get that and put it on the car Tuesday or Wednesday nite. So I will install that and the liteweight battery, and tweak the car in prep for the Southern Shootout next week.

Congrats!
Looks like things are looking up for you.
Now if only the tranny holds up for some good runs at the track.
10'sssssss? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Re: For you Joel, new dyno #'s (471.6rwhp, 505rwtq)
I wonder what the other superstrokers with A4s and 9 inch/12 bolt rears are dynoing through the exhaust on pump gas?
I have seen other dynos with race gas and longtubes with extensions but not alot of pump gas setups.
Might be cool to dyno and do a tune you can save to your laptop with 100 octane, 28-30 degrees timing and extensions on the headers for track use <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> Another 25-30RWHP I would bet would be there <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> Easy as pie to relfash the car at the track to race gas tune <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
Congrats again,
Chris

Looks like she's finally coming around. I think those are GREAT numbers through that exhaust, 9-inch, and slicks.
"I am currently dynoing thru 2.5 H pipe and twin Borla XR1 sportsman mufflers..."
You'll pick up some power using a 3" into 4" (at least 3.5") Y-pipe. ...And, get a 3.5-4" cuttout if you don't already have one.
That and some drag radials should dyno close to 500RWHP. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" /> With that kind of power there is NO reason you shouldn't be able to hit some mid 10s.
I'd later (as in after some track testing in current form) try running a larger MAF or a ported one with MAFT. The stocker is pretty good but without the center divider removed it is too restrictive for your engine.

Yeah I have always dynoed thru the mufflers I'd be curious to do a pull with open headers with some extensions.
We mostly dynoed to work on the cars lackluster top end performance.
Basically I have learned that I need a 12:1 AF to get the #'s more in line, could be how my injectors work could could be other things...
