Default head/cam, stock manifold guys, questions...

First off, I dont care what you have to say about needing headers, they arent going on the car now. I've had them on my TA, and Im going a different route this time. I would like to know what power you are putting out, especially the A4 guys. More importantly, what track times are you posting? I'd like to get 350RWHP/350RWTQ with my setup. I have all the bolt ons, except the headers. I'd also like it to run solidly in the 11's with tire and a 3200-3600 converter. The car is a 2002 Z28 A4. Thanks for any help guys.

I have had 3 different heads/cam setups with 100% stock exhaust, all in an M6 car.

First two made 360-365rwhp, the latest (GTP+TR227) made 392rwhp.

I think you can get your results easily. My buddy had a similar setup with no headers and dyno'd 379rwhp on stock programming, M6, and 4.10's. He had Stage 1 heads with stock valves.. No LS6 intake and the only bolt on was a lid.. The funny thing about his setup was a ford place did the work.. He was their first LS1 customer..

I know what you mean about headers.. I don`t want `em either. Had `em on my old H/C car. I~ll probably break down cause they make a HUUUGE difference but for now I~m sticking with the manifolds. I~ll have a dyno sheet this weekend and track # soon .. I~ll let you know.

Thanks for the responses, I never thought those kind of numbers you guys are putting out were possible without headers. It makes me pretty excited about the project. Anyone else have some results?

WildRon, how would headers make your oil consumption increase? I could see how your car "smoked" immediately after your header install if you had anti-seize or oil on them but I couldn't see how the headers would continue to smoke after the initial install.

THATS A GOOD ?. I DON'T KNOW AND NEITHER DOES ANYDOBT ELSE. I'VE PUT ABOUT 300 MILES ON IT AND GETTING WORSE. I PERSONNALLY KNOW OF 5 CARS THIS HAPPENED TO. STARTED RIGHT AFTER INSTALL OF HEADERS ONLY.ALL CARS USED MACS AND ORP.I MEAN THE CAR ONLY USED 1/2 QUART BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. BEFORE. NOW IT USES 3/4 TO 150 MILES.

I dont want headers because I dont want the noise right now. Ive had long tubes on my TA for a year, and Im tired of it. If I can have the same power if not more than my TA has without the noise, Im all for it. And down the road, if I decide I want headers, I'll put them on again. Its not that hard to understand.

I can`t stand the tiny sound of headers.. always sounds like there`s a leak.. some people are ****.. for example, me

Ireland31,

Joe (Titan) is running 12.08 @ 111.xx in a full weight A4 with just bolt ons and stock manifolds. His mods are, lid, 85mm maf, pulley, AAP TB, QTP Ram Air, LS1 Edit tuning, Vig 3200, 3.73 gears, gutted cats, AAP custom Y-Pipe/w cutout, and ET Streets at 11 psi. He ran this at Carlsbad too . I think stage II heads/cam would definitely get you into the 11's, even with stock manifolds.

Anyone out there with shorties and H/C putting down good numbers? I'm not crazy about the fitment of the Y pipe on any of the mid/long headers or the noise.
