I haven't gone wot in my car either. I have a ls6 pump and an ms4 cam (and new double roller timing chaing (did it all at once). I haven't gone wot but mine climbs just normal but is at like 25psi when hot at idle (about where it used to be). Im guessing you're just fine, if you want the extra insurance just go get a ls6 or something. The only real trouble with the stock oil pump (other then lower psi the normal problem is the plunger hanging up and just completely quit working). I'm not too worried about it though, my motor is a higher mileage one etc... higher mileage is lower psi in almost all cases. I would say go give that bitch hell and don't worry about it. If you wanted to be over cautious with your motor you wouldn't have put a cam in it. It makes oil pressure period, and enough period.

My 99 trans am ws6 with 33,000 miles and the stock oil pump idles cold start up @ 65 psi and then drops no further than 42 psi when warm.

My 98 trans am convertible with 39,000 miles and also with the stock oil pump, however, idles @ 50 psi on cold start up and then drops down to around 20 -30 psi when hot. The needle jumps up to 60 with the higher rpm's so it seems fine, but it does not act like my 99.

A little update....Just picked up the car after the ported ls6 installation....car seems to react a lot better to the throttle and it idles at 38 steady....occassionally the rpms will fluctuate and so will the oil pressure, but the tune should take care of that. So far i'm happy, but i'm just a little nervous to see how it'll react to the warm weather. Thats my real problem.

25 psi hot idle is fine as long as it goes up approx. 10lbs per thousand rpm's.
Internal engine clearences, temp, oil, filter etc. will all have an effect on it.
You are fine.

Just to let you know, -=Modified=-'s car fluctuated badly at idle after the ported pump was installed w/ the MS4 cam and new heads. It would start at about 60, then plummet to about 25, then back up to 40~ish then to 60, then drop again...

We replaced the oil pickup tube O ring w/ a slightly thicker GM one. That solved a LOT! The oil pressure sits FIRM at 60psi now at idle. It idles at about 950rpm. I think that's what his tune is set for at least.

Something to consider if you have not already figured the problem out. The smaller O ring could be slightly leaking, causing aeration of the oil being pumped. Also could have been causing out valve train knock.

mine doesn't give me problems anymore thank god. I mean its at different levels because of the weather changing...but normally now its at 38ish at hot idle, compared to the previous 25...and it'll go up as I start getting on it. I'm not paranoid about it anymore.
