Default Stk valves and port vs Valvejob, 2.02s & no porting

Just wondering where most of the flwo is picked up? ANyone ever played with backcutting the stock valves, putting a chamfer on the chamber side of the exhaust valve and such?

Jeff, what you're asking is how much flow gains can be achieved just w/ a competition valve job on a stock head. Most porting shops already back cut & lap the valves when they port heads, never heard of chamfering the chamber side, though.

It might be fun to experiment w/ how much flow (& power) can be gained this way, but it would also be expensive. For most guys, if you're going to spend the money for head work & installation, you might as well spend the $$ for a full port job.

We can argue some more about it tomorrow!

The stock valves are pretty good as well as the valvejob. You'll get far better gains with port work, mostly bowl porting, that by changeing valves, valvejob, etc.
