started my car to today after heads and came installbut
its blowing white puffs of smoke out the back like when you first start yr car on a cold day. my whole garage filled with it. any ideas what it is?. i havnt changed the oil yet since the head cam install so i know there must be antifreeze in the oil still but that shouldnt cause this.

Mine blew condensation out for a bit after the H/C on the first night we got it running, the next day once the new pcm was installed and I drove it for a while and it went away.

If there's coolant in the oil the PCV system might be picking it up as the coolant boils off. I wouldn't run that sucker very long with coolant in the oil. It tends to do nasty stuff to bearings and such.

I wouldn't run the engine with any coolant in the oil as water is heavier than oil, would therefor sink to the bottom of the pan and subsequently be the first thing circulated through the oiling system. Water is not a good lubricant and antifreeze is even worse. At least they are no good in high load situations, such as between bearings and cranks, etc.
As for the startup smoke, if there is any chance that some coolant spilled into an upturned exhaust pipe when you lifted the heads off then you would have considerable amounts of white smoke shortly after startup. It would last a considerable amount of time before it all burned out (30-60 minutes?). In this case it would not be a cause for alarm.
jack.

Any time that a cam or heads are swapped I have the oil drained because of the chance of coolant getting into the oil. It's not much of an expense to buy oil compared to the price of an engine. As said above, anti-freeze will kill bearings. Just a tip.
