Default How Much to Mill Safely with this Cam

How much to mill safely (PTV) a stock LS1 with this Comp Camshaft without flycutting, using stock MLS gasket:

54-444-11 (224/230 .581/.592 114), Spec is for Cam installed at 112 ICL. IVO:25, IVC:69.

Is .040 or .030 safe enough.

.030 should do the trick. Your best bet is to measure PTVC before the heads are milled, that way you know how much you can actually safely mill.

You're right about measuring PTVC before. Subtracting .080/.100 from measured PTVC will tell how much is safe to mill.

What will be SCR/DCR with 0.030 head milling using stock MLS gasket and the above camshaft.

I used 0.054 in my calculation.

Piston Head Volume (cc): -1
Gasket Bore (in.): 3.910
Cylinder Bore Diameter (in.): 3.898
Deck Clearance (in.): -.008
Stroke (in.): 3.622
Rod Length (in.): 6.098
Intake Closing Point (degrees)
ABDC @ 0.050 lift plus 15 degrees: 69,

I just tried and added 15+69 and got 7.34 for DCR. SCR remained same 11.11. So, which one is right?

Since when does you piston have 1 cc of dish in it? Did you flycut it?

No flycutting. Then, I am wrong, should be zero.

corrected: 10.97/8.43, does that sound right to you?

10.96/8.46 close enough

i think the variance is because you used 3.91 for bore, thats larger than stock.
