Default TEA heads and comp 224 cam are in....

Initial impressions are great. Took it out last night for the first time and first off, a balanced engine is a beautiful thing! Zero vibration for the first time since I bought the car. Cruising at 50 mph I gave it 3/4 pedal and was over 100 mph almost instantly. This combo and the 3.23 gears i'm putting back in are going to love the open road. Need tunning for tranny shift and torque converter lockup as well as the dreaded missfire codes. Will put miles on it this week and do my best to hit the track Sunday and the Dyno next week.
This new tranny and TC are a bit loose but when you give it a gentle stab hold on. Will keep you posted. Forgot to mention, for some reason this cam idles even better than the 218/218 cam I had, go figure.

I had the tranny rebuilt with a torque drive sys and all hard parts, planetary gears, sunshell, pumps, servos, bands clutches steels etc were upgraded to the best parts Speed Unlimited could find. Dean from Deans transmissions in Al. also put in a homegrown extensive shift kit. He modified his kit for the 700R4 which he has a patend on. Also put deep pan on and a tranny temp guage and cooler. I installed a TP4000 tc. This thing is going to scream once the tunning is complete.

Topfig, what was the 218/218 cam that you had before? (specs please) I am installing one with that duration and figured the idle would be really tame. Could you elaborate? Thanks.

Get that thing to the track. Did you go with the 224/112/581? Thats what I have and I've been very happy with the combination. Good luck.

Good to hear that you're happy with the new setup. I'm putting in a TR224 and TEA heads over Thanksgiving, hope mine turns out as well as yours! Good luck with the car and keep us posted on your track times and dyno numbers.

I hope it isn't too big for stock tuning. SES lights suck. Did you have to drill the throttle body any larger? I've been told that this cam doesn't lope hardly at all.

I drilled it one size bigger and raised the idle set screw.
