Default Is a 422 big enough???

I've had plans of doing a 422 over the winter. Now I've been seeing more 4.125 cranks and bores of more then 4.125. Is it worth it to go 434 for a mainly street driven car? Does durability start to be become and issue with the longer strokes and bigger bores?

422 is PLENTY BIG. Just match it with the best heads and matched aggressiv cam that you can afford. <img border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" title="" src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" />

Just a word of advice. Dont "settle" for anything. get what you really want. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

When you refer to a 422, I assume you're planning to bore/stroke the 6-litre CI block. What is the exact bore and stroke you're using to calculate 422 CID?

Plans right now are to get an ARE resleeved block with a 4.100 bore and use my 4" crank. I think that equals 422. HEHEHE don't make fun of my 4" crank guys lol

It's a car. You're already always working on it no matter what. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" />

In thory your larger stroke should bring the peak HP RPM down a touch, right? That should improve reliability. Of course, reliability is often a factor of how you drive your car, not it's bore/stroke measurements.

Is there anything else I can say that will push you toward the bigger inces??? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

422ci is plenty big. Some of us just have 434ci setups to be different <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

The 4.1 bore and 4.125 stroke crank would also be a nice combo. <img border="0" alt="[devil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" />

If you already have the 4 inch stroke crank I wouldnt bother selling it to get something else hehe. If you can trade it for a 4.125 stroke crank I would definitely do that <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Cheers,
Chris
