Default Absolute Stage II/TR224/112 Dyno/402HP/443Tq/Quest's inside?

My second time on a dyno.Dyno at Mustang Magic, made 327HP,stock unlocked,402HP Absolute Stage II and TR224/112cam unlocked. It made over 390HP from 5500 to 6800 RPM.I have Thunder Race mail tune installed.

I had a wide band which showed 12.7 to 12.9 A/F.Car was spitting black smoke,it seemed rich to me.I hooked up my Atap on one run and it showed an average of .960s from 5600 to 6800.

I know most will say you can't tune off stock O2s but when the car was stock internal running 11.6s at 115 I would use my MAFT to get 880 to 890s.

Anyone else run Atap against wide band?

12.7 to 12.9 too rich?

All comments/tips appreciated as I am some what of a dyno cherry.LOL.

I think some HP was left on the table, wish I was closer to Thunder to get tuned at the shop.

I am very happy with my TR cam and Jay's Absolute Speed Stage II heads. These heads have to be the best value out there.

I would like to get back to the track and get my first 10 second pass Friday.

Car went 11.04/121 last time out clipping the 1-2 shift.I forgot my HPP and laptop so I could not change my shifts or Atap it.It will be fixed next time out.

your a/f ratio seems perfect. the o2's on your car can't be relied upon, but since you checked them when you were checking the a/f ratio, now you know that they should be around .950. that is fine. but that black smoke is weird. maybe the wideband was off?
you are another guy using the mail-order tuning. that doesn't compare to tuning while the car is strapped to the dyno. why don't you do an LS1edit session at cartek or someother place while the car is on the dyno? that is the best way to tune. and really the only way if you want reliable and best performing tune. good luck!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

go by WIDEBAND only <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
Also at the track AF tends to lean out almost .5. With a 12.7AF on the dyno you would see around 13.2:1 at the track. pretty aggressive AF ratio <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
cheers,
Chris

2muchpower,you are right about getting an edit dyno tune.I will have to call Cartek they are the closest to me.

BTW,they put the O2 pipe in the back of the exhaust pipe.

I wanted before and after numbers on the same dyno.

Chris, yikes 13.2/1 would seem lean to me.I will run at the track with the Atap and get some new race world readings.

When I got my puter back from Thunder I made 3 street runs before the heads/cam install. The car ran .89 to .90 on the Atap. After the install of H/C I made 3 more runs with the same results[.89-.90].

I wonder what caused the O2s to get in the .96 range on the dyno?

Thanks for the input.

LS1's like to be lean.
12.7/12.9 on the dyno is fine but u really need to verify this with a WB.Did u lock the converter?U really cant get accurate # with an unlocked verter...

JS,unlocked converter.

So A/F could be off due to unlocked verter.

Again, thanks for the input as I am new to the art of dyno's.

I guess I need to go to a good shop like Cartek have them lock it up and Edit tune for max performance.

Yes John,I would let Julio tweek it for u.
The guy can tune very well.I can tell u your setep is stout. Its makin great power and running very well.

I would say your HP will go up about 15RW if u lock the converter,tq will drop more. But once your done tuning it,I would expect about 425/405 or more locked and that real impressive threw an auto.

You will be in the 10's before the end of the yr,thats for sure.Hope to meet u soon.

I found you can't go by Auto tap on a dyno.I've had readings from .70 - .98 in the same sesion and no changes made.I tune by the A/F gauge then go on the street to compare with A-tap with a load on it.

JS,we will get it done and then off to race.I hope we can meet up at the track and do a BS session.Pete can tell you I can get a bit long winded talking cars.

Slohawk, thanks for that bit of info,it helps explain a bit better what happened.

JFM, thank you for posting your results, I would love to see what rw your car pulls with the verter locked, I would like to post your dyno sheet and time slip in my dyno/et page for all to view, your car is living proof that just because our prices are less than other vendors, it doesent meen it will perform less than other vendors

The absolute readings of the wideband, especially in the top 1000 rpm should not be effected. The problem is that if your A/F is off below 5000 - 5500 rpm (depending upon your shift extension) you have no way of knowing when you dyno unlocked. An unlocked dyno on a dynojet results in no midrange data and faulty rpm readings.

Dynoing unlocked is not a good tuning strategy for a high stall car.

Gotta agree with Ragtop...
U really need to make some locked pulls to dial the car in properly.

Bu the power u made unlocked is very impressive none the less. With tuning and a few more tweeks its in the 10's for sure..

Very impressive setup...
