Trader Rating: (2) Non Tuned Tr 224

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just got my cam in today is a Tr 224 563 from thunder racing . I took the car out last night let it heat cycle the valve springs and then let is set over night. Today I went for a drive and wasnt impressed at all. I understand its not tuned . Ok so here are my Questions

1 how long does it take the computer to learn that the cam is in there.

2 is it normal for it to load up real bad after revving

3 There is quite a bit of smoke coming from the pipes when I get on it.

4 Where the hell is the horse power out

5 how much more power will I get from a tune!

1. Relearn is about 50 miles, dependant on engine run time
2. untuned, yes
3. sounds like you didnt seal your rocker bolts
4. it's there, have to find it
5. 20 +

depending on the color of the smoke you may be running rich. I would suggest a tune if you are seeing a substantial amount of smoke at WOT. Tuning can lean you out a little and you should gain hp. just my .02$

While your cam is not TOO big and you can get by untuned, I personally would never get on it after doing a camswap without having it tuned. Dont want to blow your engine up, and you can never be sure how far off your A/F ratio will be.

Trust me get it tunned. I have the same cam and have been driving my car dd since november and now i have gas in my oil from running too rich. And i have a lifter making noise so i see allot of money being spent in my future.
