Default TR224 cam - 370-385hp, Is it possible with...

stock manifolds and heads? The only mods I have on my car are as follows----->whisper lid, k&n, 80mm TB, and suspension mods. Will I need the whole kit that thunder sells here That kit is 700 bucks (800 if I want titanium retainers) Or is everyone going w/ the cam? Thanks guys!!

you shouldnt have any problem getting thoes numbers. If you dont get it tight away, im pretty sure that you can get it with tunning.

im sure those numbers are attainable, but whats the point? if ur trying to save money? yea i could see that, stealthy? yea i could see that. But the cam will really shine when you have headres and full exhuast. Even though the mainfolds flow pretty well, IMO i would just get headers also and be done with it.
Enjoy your Cam!

I am getting 368 rwhp now with flp lth, high flow cats, flp y-pipe, slp d/d, airlid, Rev Double Springs, Ti Retainers and TR Hardened pushrods and of course the CAM TR 224/.561/112 LSA before tuning so the dyno stopped at 6250 not 6800.
I ordered LS1edit on on Wed. so that should be here real soon and we should be able to tweek a few more ponies out of her.

Most of the posts up here are showing similar numbers for the TR224 Cams. Headers are defitely going to get you more ponies by themselves. The stock manifolds flow pretty well and you will have some good numbers so getting headers is not needed immediately but I would consider that as your next mod. I can only recommend the FLPs since I have them and install was a breeze and they sound great. They gave me at least a ~35rwhp increase ( car was really not running to good that day )

Driveatransam - I have a 6spd hurst.

The TR 224/.561/112 LSA cam is the one I'm interested in. I haven't got the answer I was looking for. Do I need to get the whole kit from thunder? Or do I just need the cam? <---Maybe it's a stupid question?

Don't get me wrong I want headers, but I want the cam first.

Yes you will need the whole kit. I am not sure what springs are in the kit but you may want to upgrade to the Isky 295D's. They are about $100 more but they are worth it. I would go ahead and get the titanium retainers. They are lighter and stronger than stock. I think that the Comp 918's are the only springs that allow you touse the stock retainers. You will love this cam. As far as your horsepower numbers, just remember it is easy to get pumped up Dyno numbers but the real power rating is how it does at the track. By the way with my mods my car put down 363.4hp (before ported TB)My best mph has been 114.2mph. Hope this helps.
