Default Engine Overheating, HELP!!!!!!!

I just finished installing a heads/cam and LS6 intake on my 98 T/A and now it's over heating! There is no engine coolant coming back through the return hose going into the radiator. Can anyone help? I used Victor Reinz head gaskets and I'm not sure if that's the problem or not. I also replaced the coolant bar that runs under the intake from the back of the heads to the front with block off covers in the rear of the heads and installed a 2001 bar up front so the coolant could run through the throttle body.

Can any one help?!!?!? PLEASE! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

Is it possible you have a air pocket in the system take off one end of the front bypass hose intill antifrezze comes out and make sure you did't get the two lines on the right side of the radatior crossed ones overflow and the other is for the bypass tube those would be my first things to check im taking it that your thermstat is good

I will try that. Also, yes I have tried 2 water pumps and 2 different thermostats and the same result, however I haven't tried unhooking the return hose and running it that way. Thanks, anymore help or ideas would be great!!!!

1. Remove hose from bleed line to the right of TB

2. Fill radiator til coolant starts to come out of there.

3. Replace hose

4. Replace radiator cap

5. Start car

6. Remove radiator cap, after about a minute you should start to see a steady stream of coolant coming back into the radiator. When the thermo opens, top off the radiator.

Also make sure there is some fluid in the overflow tank ("engine coolant only") this primes the pump. About 2" up on the dipstick is good.

Thanks man, but to clearify do you mean the hose connectted to the right of the TB or the return hose going back to the radiator.

Just disconnect from the bottom and leave it dangling on the TB, so you expose the silver metal pipe. Pull the clamp back, twist the hose til it breaks free and pop it off.

That is the highest point in the system for the most part, so air rises to there. Just move the clamp back, twist the hose to break it free, and slide it off.

cgfirehawk- have you checked to make sure your fans are still turning on? I don't like to assume things and since it wasn't mentioned, I must ask. Easy step to knock out. Start car, turn ac or defroster on and see if fans kick in. My fan fuse blew causing my fans not to run, alomost missed the easy fix. FWIW- the fuse blew from a mod related mistake, but non-the-less, it can't hurt to check it.

Good-luck.

just like mentioned above, check the little hoses on the passenger side of the radiator. the top one goes to the overflow, and the bottom one goes to the throttle body. i had those mixed up and i had the car boiling over everytime.

Ok, everything is fixed! Thank you guys for all your help. What fixed it was doing the process that 2001 LS1 SS posted. I left the return hose that's on the right of the throttle body off and had the engine running, it sputtered at first then finally a steady stream came out. I hooked the hose back up and the temp went down to 185. My guess is that it was an air pocket that was created after I put everything back together and then installed my ASP underdrive pulley, when the crank would turn I guess it just created air inside the engine. Thanks alot 2001 LS1 SS!!!

Now, however my fans still don't come on and the wiring is correct. What should I try first, changing the relays or what? Thanks again guys!
