I am planning to change the cam on my 2002 Z-28. I have recently heard that 2002 LS1's already have the LS6 valve springs and that most mild cam upgrades can get by with these springs. Can anyone confirm this. Thanks.

Thanks for the responses. What about other valvetrain components? Rockers, pushrods, etc. Are any of these LS6 parts in the LS1?

02 LS1s do NOT have an LS6 spring. Upgrade to a 918 or atleast an LS6 spring if doing a cam.
BTW, the valves in an LS6 are different and the 02 springs have a different seat height. Thats one of the reasons you dont find GM putting them in at the assembly plant.

All 02s and very late 01s use the new valve guide seal which incorporates the spring seat and seal in one piece. These seats/seals are the same thickness as the copper spring seats you should use with the 01 LS6 springs. They are thicker by about .015 than the older LS1 spring seat and set the proper installed height when using 01 LS6 springs.
