Default Pennzoil Platinum or Quaker State Q Torque synthetic?

Has anyone had any experience with these oils? They are Buy 1 Get 1 free at Advance Autoparts.

I wouldn't use any product of QS from what I've seen. Their oils don't clean at all compared to Castrol or mobil 1. I use to work at a chevy dealer, they used QS. The few engines they had to take apart were nothing but sludge. I couldn't believe it. My s10 has had Mobil 1 for the last 100k, I had to pull the oil pan to replace the gasket and the pan/engine were 100% spotless.

I know I'm comparing synthetic to conventoinal oil. But if they can't produce a excellent conventional oil I woudln't trust their synthetic either. I'm sure they protect ok, but qs doesn't clean. I read about pennzoil somewhere on the net, and it didn't sound like it got a very good rating. Just my thoughts

Both are EXCELLENT formulations, either one will suit you very well. I can't divulge any data as it's proprietary Dyson Analysis information, but PP is a great oil. I would buy all the PP I could at that price.

I have heard good thing about the PP stuff as well, as for their dino oil, I would not run that stuff in my lawn mower.

I've read some really good things about Pennzoil Platinum. I've got some waiting for my next oil change.

Both are solid products. Both are under the SOPUS, or Shell umbrella.

IDK about their synthetics but if its anything like their conventional oils I wouldn't use it for anything. (Not even a sqeaky door hinge!!). Every motor I've ever torn down with QS or Penz was full of sludge.

How often are you changing your oil? Is it really worth it? Go with Mobil 1.

Mobil 1 or GC FTW!! Thats the only oils I would trust. As Pewter01z said, I have also seen motors full of sludge after using QS or Penz...

I've tore down a few Penn. engines and they all looked fine, the only motors that were full of sludge were Valvoline motors.

I use to run a 69 Camaro with a 427ci BB at the track and the only thing I ever put in it was Quaker State racing oil. You could pull the valve covers and there no sludge. It was so clean you could eat off it. Had a MonteCarlo SS with the 305 smog engine in it ran Quaker State in it also. Pulled the valve covers and it was Sludge City worst I've ever seen. In a car without emissions some oil is fine but put that oil in a PVC smogger and its gonna ruin it.

The "I've seen engines..." comments are rediculous. There is not ONE oil on the market today that is made the way it was five years ago. Not one. The gap between best and worst is fairly close. Run whatever is on sale.

Agree. There are significant differences between Synthetic PCMO. I haven't ran Dino PCMO in over 20 years so I can not comment on these blends from anyone.

I can say, that PP and QQ SYNTHETIC PCMO's are not sludgemeister's.
