Default oil brand and type

What is the best oil brand and type do you put in your LS1. A buddy of mine just got his changed with valveline synthetic, and his change oil light is going off. I'm rolling up on that time where I should change mine, any suggestions, so my light won't go off ?

Mobil 1 10W30. Motor has 40,000 hard mile on it and looking at the rocker arms through the fill cap opening the engine appears as clean internally as the day i bought it new.

I like Mobil1, but have found that 10W30 is too thin, & contributed to oil consumption, at least on my car. Unfortunately, Mobil1 doesn't sell a 10W40 weight.

When I change my oil now, I use 1 gallon of Mobil1 10W30 plus two quarts of Mobil1 15W50. I now have almost NO oil consumption at all.

BTW, the change oil light comes on regularly, regardless of how often you actually change your oil. To reset the light, turn on your key, press the odometer reset button, & hold it for 10 seconds or so.

You can't go wrong with 10w30 Mobil 1, it's showing awesome oil analysis results now since the SuperSyn formulation and it's readily available everywhere for a great price.

What about Mobil 1 5-w30 I have a bunch of this stuff. I use about 1 qt every 6000 miles so oil consumption isn't bad at all.

Mobil 1 5w30 is good, but the 10w30 is better. Save the 5w30 for the colder winter months, use the 10w30 all the rest of the time.

I used to run Mobil 10W-30 and just changed to Royal Purple 5W-30 and seem to get a lot better oil mileage but this could be that due to the wet weather wherer I just can't get on it as much

Mobil 1 10W-30 for 3 years and 85,000 troublefree miles. I recently installed a cam and was astounded at how squeaky CLEAN the engine was inside. I'll never use anything else.
