Pedal or anyone,

Quick question:
Little off topic. I just got an e-mail from Mike Norris who is installing everything in my sig. He said that the cam that ARE put in is allot bigger than Nick Agostino and I discussed putting in. Its 242/242 .610/.610 114.

Is this gonna idle like crap or what?

This sucks man.

Thanks

If I didn't have to pass CA emission, I would have the biggest cam I can live with. After you get it see if it suits you.

Good luck,

I got almost identical cam in mine and here’s a quote from my post on CF regarding same matter:

</font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I got
240/244 .608"/.612" lift 114LS according to the cam card.

Idle and drivability is beyond excellent. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
There’s no stalling, no surging, no hanging rpm, idle set to 975rpm. AC on – no problem.
Maybe I got used to it already, but other than 975rpm idle vs. 750rpm stock I can’t even really think of any difference in drivability from stock…

Oh btw, other than a knock sensor code, which was identified as a loose wire, I haven’t gotten any codes either.

Hope this helps…

P.S. I haven’t tested mine yet, but another motor which was identical to mine (heads, cam , bore, stroke, CR, etc) passed “rolling dyno” emissions running through hi-flow cats….

Personally I think you could have probably went with something like a 229/229 and still idled close to stock, but to each his own.

I would think you wouldn't have any surging problems or have to raise the idle much.

Thanks for the re-assurance. I hope you're all right. My programming was done by Ed Wright, so at least that shouldn't be a problem. I should know on Monday or Tuesday.

I am taking my car in in February to MMS to do a 427 (I believe with Darton sleeves) and a blower. That should be pretty fun but no way I'm gonna pass (or try to pass) smog here in CA. How was your experience with MMS? So far they've been GREAT answering all my thousands of questions.

Great, thanks! I've only spoken with Al once briefly - I'm mostly dealing with Mike. I'm sure I'll meet the whole gang in Feb., though. I would love to drive to Texas (I've made the TX-Los Angeles drive more times then I (or my various cars) care to remember. One more time wouldn't hurt! It's beautiful country out there!

It's 3/9/03.
Here is the info page under Gatherings on the main page.
I'll be running low 12's on Nitto DRs in the 12's category, and ET Brackets. You should try that too since we both don't have roll cages.
