Default Anybody actually tried a 110lsa cam, compared to 112?

I hear all the speculation of how my 224/224 110lsa cam coming is not going to have any top end at all because of the 110 and its 4 degrees advance but has anyone really tried or dynoed similiar cams on a tighter lsa? Just curious.

It's not the 110 LSA that's going to kill your top end. It's the early intake closing point. You're killing the top end by going with 4 degrees of advance. Basically, your intake centerline will be 106 and your intake closing point will be 38 degrees ABDC (or 218 ATDC). This early closing point will make your power peak occur around 5900 rpms. Ideally, for a 346 LS1, you want an intake closing point of around 44-46 degrees ABDC. Take your 224/224 110LSA +4 cam and retard it 6 degrees (so it's really 224/224 110LSA -2) and you'll be perfect. You will have good top end and good low end grunt. Just remember, it's not the 110LSA that's killing your top-end in this case, it's the +4 advance AND the 110LSA that is.

DAB

Do you have long tube headers? Because if you dont you will better off going with 114 lsa.

Thanks for the info. Can you retard the cam without an adjustable timing set? My guess is probably not. How about with a degree wheel. Thanks.

You can retard your cam using your stock timing set by using an offset bushing kit. Drill out the dowel pin hole in your cam sprocket. Insert a -6 degree offest bushing. Use a degree wheel to confirm setting. Lock it down and start running faster!

How much power can be gained by doing this (110 lsa -2) over a tr224 or xer224 112lsa?
