I finally gathered all my parts for my 418 stroker project. It's been so long that I forgot some of my blueprint specs!! Any of you with larger displacment motors; what are you setting you top and bottom compression ring end gaps to?
What little I remember I thought that the bottom ring was tighter then the top.

First off, you need to determine what the plans for the motor are. (i.e. - all motor, n20, etc).
What does the ring manufacturer recommend for end gap? A sheet should have been included with the pistons.
In a n/a application, shoot for .004-.005" of end gap per inch of bore. In your car, this would be between .016"-.020" for the top ring. In recent years, many ring manufacturers are recommending a looser end gap for the second compression ring. The LS1 comes from the factory this way.

Contact the ring manufacter for there recomend ations and like already posted you need to know if you are going to boost or spray or run na. But My friend made the mistake Kieth black silver lite pistons Hypernuetecnic have a different spec and if you don't follow their directions you will destroy the pistons and bore. With my n2o motor both rings are at .035 Hope this helps a little. Rich

Make the 2nd rings gap lager than the top by around .004". This is just a general rule of thumb for a N/A motor.
