Default HELP!!!! What is this? Found while changing oil

I was changing my oil just now and when taking the drain plug out there was what looks to be a broken washer.

It looks nothing like the Ti retainers I put in over a month ago. Car is running great.

Here is a photo of the two pieces.

It is a bit too thick for a stock one..

Thanks,

How thick is it? Any idea of type of metal? I can't think of any washer that size inside of an engine.

I have been sitting here for the last half hour trying to figure out what would be that size inside the block as well and can't come up with a dang thing.

I have my motor in pieces outside and I can look, if need be.

It looks like a aftermarket valve spring seat though.

so it is the REV spring base!!! so far the springs look ok, but it doesn't make any sense why the base would fall apart like this.

I figured that was the only thing that size inside the engine. Most spring washers/seats are not titanium, they are cheap steel. Not sure why yours would be broken, kinda odd!

Get rid of those Rev springs before they cost you...

Now this is interesting as well, TR has this seat listed for the REV double springs.

54-SC221 REV Hardened Spring Seats for 54-VS1116 1.25" Double Valve Springs

Since we got a couple of the first sets they sold, I wonder if the ones we got were not hardened seats.

Time to take more vacation to put the cars right...

Thanks everyone for all the responses.

Well at least some good news, only 1 broken seat. #2 cylinder, intake. Just finished taking off drivers side, most my blood and skin are still there

Looks like time to call Thunder, they have outstanding service so I don't expect any problems.

This is why LunaticTA and I were planning on tearing them down to make sure something like this was not happening, sure glad we were not able to make it to the local drag stips.

Thanks everyone for the quick responses.

Just an UPDATE:
Called Thunder Racing first thing today. Paul as expected was more then willing to replace the set. He asked me to call REV directly to see if they wanted the broken locator only or the whole set.

I then called REV and spoke to the contact Paul gave me, he also was more then willing to replace the set. But since I am w/o a car at the moment I went ahead and bought a new set and REV said they would credit me back once they got the broken 1 and others to test and see what happened.

Thunder Racings Customer service ROCKS.

If you used the REV spring seats and retainers then this is the problem. They put way to much pressure down with the installed height they end up at. A&A corvettes has the right retainers and seats which puts the installed height at 1.84 and about 135 pounds. REVS put the spring pressure at 160+ and installed height of 1.76. I have seen this with my own eyes. Just my two cents. Also I have the REV titanium retainers and hardend spring seats for the 1116's if anyone wants them, I didnt take any chances so I bought the A&A corvette ones just to be safe. I paid 288, I will take half that and I will ship for free.
