HELP!!!! What is this? Found while changing oil
It looks nothing like the Ti retainers I put in over a month ago. Car is running great.
Here is a photo of the two pieces.

what is the size of them? Got a photo next to a penny or something?
Valvespring shim washer?

It is a bit too thick for a stock one..
Thanks,
C
How thick is it? Any idea of type of metal? I can't think of any washer that size inside of an engine.
Tony

It looks to be about 1/16" thick.
I have been sitting here for the last half hour trying to figure out what would be that size inside the block as well and can't come up with a dang thing.

You got me stumped, post up when you figure it out.

I have my motor in pieces outside and I can look, if need be.
It looks like a aftermarket valve spring seat though.

We will check them, but the new seats were not steel like this seems to be, they looked like the same material as the Ti retainers.

Now this is interesting as well, TR has this seat listed for the REV double springs.
54-SC221 REV Hardened Spring Seats for 54-VS1116 1.25" Double Valve Springs
Since we got a couple of the first sets they sold, I wonder if the ones we got were not hardened seats.

Thanks everyone for all the responses.

Sorry about the luck Looks like every company has problems.
Looks like time to call Thunder, they have outstanding service so I don't expect any problems.
This is why LunaticTA and I were planning on tearing them down to make sure something like this was not happening, sure glad we were not able to make it to the local drag stips.
Thanks everyone for the quick responses.

Called Thunder Racing first thing today. Paul as expected was more then willing to replace the set. He asked me to call REV directly to see if they wanted the broken locator only or the whole set.
I then called REV and spoke to the contact Paul gave me, he also was more then willing to replace the set. But since I am w/o a car at the moment I went ahead and bought a new set and REV said they would credit me back once they got the broken 1 and others to test and see what happened.
Thunder Racings Customer service ROCKS.
