Default Inside of the Intake is shiney....could it be?

I posted recently about my oil consumption problems...but as I was taking my TNT kit off I opened up the TB blade and shined a flashlight in there...it looked to be pretty glossy on the inside...is this oil??

Could it be that my PCV valve is done with...

When I looking into my intake 2 months ago it seemed to be dry in there...

Yes, that is oil. If you still have the TB off; take a rag and use it to wipe up some if you want to be sure. That is what I did. The rag came out black . Do they have emissions testing in IL?

Well then I would not recommend removing the PCV system all together. Maybe get a new PCV valve and see if that cures the ill.

A new PCV won't cure it. Install some sort of oil catch-can inline and it will help tremendously.

I stuck a rag in there today, some parts that I rubbed turned out black, but had a gas smell to it...

Is this oil, its a black black...

BigBos, yes its oil and some gas from port reversion out of cylinders. A filter/seperator assembly for a paint gun air compressor will help tremendously with fixing oil consumption.
I also want to say that if you go back and reread
Jan. 2002 GM hi tech article about John juriga from GM engineering adressing oil consumtion cause, he spells it out pretty clearly. The oil scraper rings expander tension is just adequate, and second compression ring only has enough tension to clear oil off cylinder when motor is kept out of hi rpm/part throttle conditions like cruising along at 3000 to 3500 rpm with only part throttle. Engine rpms have to be kept as low as possible when driving easy or hi manifold vacuum unseats second compression ring and allows oil to be consumed. This does not mean it doesnt seal properly at wot under hi rpm and load, because it does seal.If you see oil smoke out tailpipes full throttle it is from oil collection in intake being sucked up into cylinders. When 3000+ rpms are used to get around and ring unseats this also causes blow by into oil pan which pushes and carries oil into pcv system causing consumption also. A3 guys will always have a problem with this, but us M6 and A4 cars can fix most of this by keeping rpms around 2000 until race time.
If GM fixed this situation completely by raising ring tension dramatically or using thicker more conventional rings the LS1 will lose power. I would rather drive smart and keep race style rings in this motor. I hope this helps some understand what the deal is with all this.
