I most likely will have MTI set up some straight pipe i can use for off road use at the track to ditch the cats and to see what difference it makes on a dyno. Also, will explore going with cut outs.

Don't mind going catless on the street but its will be to damn load thru my B&B PRTS and i'm to old for getting pulled over by the man when i'm driving conservatively thru town going to local car show or picking up coffee on Sunday Morning, etc., before going to my local industrial test/tune strip to burn some serious rubber and to lay my foot into her a little bit!

I still have all the plastic panels, carpet, dash, heater, radio, speakers, rear seat cushions, stock driver seat, etc.

"Remember Tony and Sanders have MTI sponsored cars so they get a lot of "extra" work that regular paying customers don't get."

LOL! I think you know better. If you called MTI and told them to build you an engine JUST LIKE my old 422 it would probably perform BETTER than mine simply because the head porting practices have evolved a little. Maybe a few other things have improved too. I dunno.

Point is, there is absolutely nothing special about my old engine.

Now the NEW one on the other hand...

Who said I was running in the 12'. I never mention anything like that. 12 was on street tires at over 120 mph. So i would say at full weight it should run low 11's possobly high 10's.

anyways stay on topping.

Jim and Hampton,

I have heard straight pipes, no cats on a stroker C5 and it sounded like total crap... Worse than a new Viper with straight pipes.

PRO Stock John,

I was thinking no cats going thru my PRT mufflers for the drags only and also to see how much power the high flow 3 inch cats will cost me as shown by a local chasis dyno.

MTI will be finishing up my 408 stroker within the next day or two. It is pretty close to MTI 427 Roadster's car. Instead of 4.06 X 4.125", mine is 4.03 X 4".

I'll post the dynograph when I have it.

Tuan,

Can't wait to see the HUGE POWER you will be making with that MTI 408 and MASSIVE DOSES of N20 that you will be BLASTING Thru that LQ4 stroker, which you had MTI build to handle mega doses of the laughing GAS!

Congrats and best of luck to you my friend on what should be a 9 second C5! My Beast will be arriving at MTI in a week or two for its 427 cid hearttransplant which should blast me into the 10s on motor, if i can hook up all that Superstroker torque off the line with my sledgehamer Yank PT 4000 stall and 3.73.

Talk to you soon and the guys here are missing out on those hot babes sprawled all over your C5 that you are able to tease us with on the Corvetteforum!

By the way, what cam specs did you finally decide upon and what heads will you be using on your MTI 408?

What made you choose an iron block to build your 427? Are you going to spray it or what?

I choose the ironblock because it gives me 100% more confidence from a reliability/durability standpoint, concerning sleeves dropping, coolant leaking, etc. and having these major type of headaches which more than a few that i know of have dealt with.

My decision may have been different if i lived near by a tuner such as MTI, ARE, etc., where i wouldn't have to incur the expense involved of hauling the car 1500 miles from Chicago (to Texas or Canada) in case of a major problem. THe cost (about 2K less) was also a factor but the peace of mind i personally get with the confidence issue of having a more bulletproof engine, was my main determining factor. I am not even going to consider spraying while under MTI's two year/24K mile warranty and will probably never spay this motor, as i'm into naturally aspirated Amercian Mucsle and this will give me more than enough power for me. I will have a difficult enough time planting the power to the ground in a C5 from a N/A motor making around 480rwhp and 500rwtq, hooked up with a Yank PT 400 stall and 3.73s.!
