Default Cam Grind # question

On the cam card under the grind # it states HR114+2

I'm just wondering what does the +2 mean?

Thanks <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Should mean +2 degrees advance "ground in"

I will bet since the LSA is 114 degrees, the IC is 112 degrees. There is your 2 degrees of advance.

Ok, but since I'm cam-retarted. Can someone explain to me what does +2 degrees advance mean exactly? Is there anything special that needs to be done during the install?

Thanks again <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Unless you are planning to change the cam timing, just install it straight up, dot-to-dot.
If you have an adjustable timing chain, you can advance or retard the cam a few degrees. If so, I would degree the cam first. You will need a degree wheel for this.

Let me guess --- did you just buy this cam from Thunder Racing (224/224 114 +2)???

Advancing the cam 2 degrees means that the intake valve will close 2 degrees earlier then with 0 degrees advance. This means slightly better low-midrange power 1000-5000 with a small power loss at the top end 5000+.

Sounds perfect for mostly street use <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

The cam is an MTI B1 222/222

The MTI B1 cams are 221/221 and are ground w/ 4* advance usually. You may have ordered the C1(hammer cam), which is a 222/222 .56x lift.

The only different between the C1 and B1 is the C1 has a 112 LSA and B1 is 114. Both are .560 lift.

If its an MTI cam and its 222/222 w/ .560" then its a C1. The T1 is a 112 LSA B1. The C1 cam has more agressive ramp profiles than the B1/T1. Call MTI if you dont belive me <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I bought the cam as a B1 though, oh well, I guess the C1 is going in <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> Not much different between the two anyways, 221 vs.222, still in the same ballpark.
Thanks for info. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />
