i'm glad this thread came up. i just wished it was brought up sooner before i put the hotcam in my SS. Dont get me wrong the Hotcam is nice but i need more midrange/top end power and that torque curve is very nice. I guess I will be spending more money now on the cam swap. But then again with any toy there's always an excuse to spend more money HA

where r u guys getting your 7.425 pushrods and timing chains from? Other than springs, which I already have, that's all I should need for my ASA swap, right?

i think thunder carries 7.425's. many of the sponsors carry the ls2 chain also. you're going to need new gaskets and crank bolt.

Yep, pushrods from thunder, ls2 chain from scoggin dickey, you might as well change your oil pump because it has to come out anyway to get that new chain in.

Yea go ahead and change your oil pump while your down there, that way you dont have to worry about it later. Thunder has their own pushrods really cheap. Actually I bought the timing chain from Texas Speed. All the gaskets were found on Scoggin Dickey.

arent the ls6 pushrods 7.425? i know the ls6 basecircle is slightly smaller than the ls1 base circle, but never found the answer to the ls6 pr question. if your really strapped for cash, a set of ls6 prods would do well, since the ls6 redline is at 6500, im sure they would be safe to use

LS6 cam has smaller base circle, but the ls6 valves have longer stems which result in 7.400" push rods. When you mix ls6 cam with stock ls1 length valves then you need a longer p-rod.

Everyone seems to agree that 7.425 pushrods help quiet down the valvetrain, but should I expect a little more noise even with longer pushrods? With my crane roller rockers I already have the 'sewing machine' sound, would that become more obvious? I don't want to sound like a pansy about noises, I'm just trying to get a heads up on any noises that are common with a cam swap so I don't get to worried about any new sounds. And what about gas mileage?? I havn't heard from any ASA owners yet. How much is it gonna hurt my gas gauge?
