Help me with my final cam choice
Thunder racing 220/220 .553/.553 114 lsa
MTI B1 221/221 .558/.558 114 lsa
speedtek 220/216 .579/.559 114 lsa
I'm not looking for a lot of lope that is the reason i didn't go for the 224/224 114lsa
I'll be using TEA stage II heads with dual springs 5.3L heads
I have no idea which one of these cams will produce the most power and am looking for the answer, which one will have a better idle and less lope?
Would a 224/224 114lsa be to rough for what i'm asking?
all suggestions are appreciated and will be used in my final selection.
A cam that would give a good flat power curve and a nice idle would be a comp XE-R grind with a
222/222 115 with 2 or 4 degrees of advance ground in. 4* advance will bring the power peak down a couple hundred rpm compared with the 2*. The 2* will give you nicer power from a roll.
This cam stuff is starting to confuse me....
Would it sound less lopy i noticed it would have a 115lsa and might have less lope...
I'm totally confused.

FWIW, the 224/114 hardly lopes at all. I have heard a car with the 224/112 through a Flowmaster catback, and I did not even know he had a cam until he told me. Do a search on Jason99T/A's car, he posted some sounds of his cam idling with the 224/114. Barely loped at all.....

<strong>I have the TR220/114 cam and it is very streetable. My only complaint is that I wish it sounded like there really was a cam in there <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> </strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Maybe my ears are sensitive, but I hear lope.

It is not bad. I do expect that even with cats that you could hear it is not stock.

need more opinions, this is a very hard decision, im not wanting to much lope and i think the 224 might be to much for me
In general, the less overlap you have, the better the car will idle. Wider LSA's (114 & up) will idle better, as will straight pattern or reverse-split cams. For example, a 220/220 cam will usually idle better than a 220/224 w/ the same lift. Advancing the cam will also result in a better idle. Most cams are ground at +4 advance for this reason, & for low RPM response.
If you really want a totally stock-sounding idle, got with a 115 or 116 LSA. One of our sponsors is having a cam sale this month, & you can order a custom grind for $399, cam only.

i might go with the 224/224 114 with the info you have all gave me, it will come down to how i feel when i order, i believe witht the idle set up to about 850-900 i could handle the 224/224 114
Thanks for all the opinions,
As for my exhaust it will be hooker LT Hooker ORP and magnaflow catback.
I'm starting to lean more toward the 224 now
