346 cu in, big valves, idle problems??????

346 cu in, big valves, idle problems?????? Anyone with 2.055-2.08 intake and 1.60 valves on a stock displacement engine please post idle quality, good or bad. Thanks in advance.
Re: 346 cu in, big valves, idle problems?????? I had huge valves.. My car idled the same as it did when it had stock valves. I thought with more flow it would idle smoother, but it did not.. I had 2.08x1.60's
Re: 346 cu in, big valves, idle problems?????? 2.08 X 1.60 and no more issues than one would expect with a 232/236 cam. Actually warm idle is good at 1000 but cold start in the winter isn't too good. With my 224/224 114 cam, idle and low speed drivability were fine.

I was told your car didn't want to idle with the big valves. When you put on the small valve heads the idle improved alot. What gives?

Re: 346 cu in, big valves, idle problems?????? I have no clue Brian. My old 5.3L heads had a lot of issues.. Flow and the valvetrain sucked. Tuning was a big problem. I personally think that for NA 2.02 x 1.57 should be the biggest on a 346ci. If you plan to use a power adder then you could use a bigger exhaust valve.. This is just my opinion..
Re: 346 cu in, big valves, idle problems?????? I was running 2.055 1.60 with good idle. I only had a 222 230 .534 .544 114 lsa cam though. I agree that 2.02 1.60 is plenty of valve for a stock 346 ci. Idle was set at 950 rpm on an auto with a 2600 yank stall.

Vinnie...when Brandon and I took your car around the block post head swap...it seemed to idle better at first. Then you said after a few days of driving the hot starts came back. Maybe thats the confusion.
