I have a good cam that would work well with your NOS setup. Comp Cams 220/226 .563/.570 114LSA. I ran an 11.70 with full interior with it and stock heads... You will need to bump up your idle a little. I will be pulling it out soon as my hew heads and cam gets here which should be in a week or two. It only has about 500 miles on it. $250.00

Should be ok as long as 114Lsa. Just a question off the subject, I noticed you have a vortex muffler in your sig. I have the same and was wondering how your's sounds with headers. I still have the stock manifolds, but I'm very happy with the $80 muffler.
Anyway's sorry about changing the subject. Are you planning on keeping the bottle with your new cam?

No tuning and your mods leads me to suggest that a 220/220 115 +4 is the largest I would go. This size is still hit or miss in an A4 as to tuning, especially idle speed and not having an SES for random misfires.

If you want a very high probability of not needing any tuning or having codes, I would look smaller, consider a 214/216 115 +2 or 216/216 115 +3.

Thunder Racing 224/224 on a 114 is the biggest I would go. I'd probably look for something with the same ramp rates but around 220-222 duration on a 114 LSA.

Maybe even a 220-222/216-218? Something like the specs Patrick G used on his last cam. I think his was a 220/216?

Thanks for the info guys.Ragtop u mean advanced right +2,3,4.i think. Ls1 bird with the headers and offroad pipe it was really raspy and friggin annoying. I just changed to a magnaflow muffler and it is much better now.Love the deep sound.Drivability is key here for me with the cam not quitesure on if to change gears to 342s.this is my only car.

I have run the cam with no tuning when it was first installed. I just raised the idle. Never set any codes.

Yup +2,3,4 is advance.

2001 Pewter: I know it was plug and play for you, but when you get to 220 duration the odds of an A4 acheiving an acceptable idle and not having any codes starts to drop.

FWIW, m6 cars are luckier, their higher factory idle speed allows for a better shot at no problems.

If you are looking for only a 15-20 hp improvement then an 01 or 02 Z06(LS6) cam would do the job, pass emissions and not require re-programming.

From what I've been reading, you probably wont want to go with anything larger than a TR220 or the MTI B1 cam with stock programming. Anything more than that, and you're just wasting your time, cause the cam wont be able to work to its fullest potential, and you'll have a lot of idling problems with your A4.
