If you want a very high probability of not needing any tuning or having codes, I would look smaller, consider a 214/216 115 +2 or 216/216 115 +3.
Maybe even a 220-222/216-218? Something like the specs Patrick G used on his last cam. I think his was a 220/216?

2001 Pewter: I know it was plug and play for you, but when you get to 220 duration the odds of an A4 acheiving an acceptable idle and not having any codes starts to drop.
FWIW, m6 cars are luckier, their higher factory idle speed allows for a better shot at no problems.
