Default Is It Worth It To Port????

I am putting a ms4 in my camaro this summer and was wondering since i dont plan on putting heads on for a while. Is it worth it and HOW MUCH of a gain will I see by porting my stock heads and ls6 intake?

Porting you stock heads correctly and port matching your intake will be just the same as getting some blended ported heads to bolt right on. The porting process (if done correctly) should take care of the flaws that are causing them to not produce as much power and tq. For instance...an 853 casting that has been ported and milled will perform almost dead on with some aftermarket stock casting, ported heads that you can buy. However, the drawback to that is: You can get heads from several site sponsors that are already ported, milled, brand new, with hardware, assembled....for the same price that you could have a decent job done on your stockers, just for the machining and porting....And still have to buy new valves possibly, as well as springs, locks, seats, and seals.

just food for thought.

Moving to Internal.

porting your stock intake that I don`t know abouy and don`t know if it`s worth it (unless you`re doing it yourself)

porting your heads if you`re doing the job then go for it .... if someone else is doing it then depends how much he`s charging ... a local shop said $375 for what they call a stage three (hand porting available here only) don`t have first hand experience with them but people say that they`re alright so I`m doing it since my heads are coming out for the engine rebuild.

Is this your first rodeo? I'm embarrassed by the first stuff I ever attempted to "port". Now years later, I feel like I'm starting to get the hang of it a little bit. Draw your own conclusions from my post.
