Default cam help

OK, I have an 02 T/A auto... car is not my DD, but can be called upon any time for DD use or road trip... im looking to keep a clean good looking car and make decent power w/o makin a poor idle car.... I cant afford a built auto till at least this time next year, but the car will have an external trans cooler, and deep pan... I was looking to go cam only with Pacesetter Lt's and ORY with my hooker cat back... Im planning on porting the stock TB and LS6 intake... I was thinking of like a 224/228 114 LSA with lift just under .600.... would this be a good setup, and will it make around 400rwhp??? oh, and i will be prob installing a 3400 stall convertor(maybe slightly larger).... any input will be greatly appreciated and sunk well into my thick skull... .... thanks in advance

You are going to need that 3800 stall to run the MS3 in an Auto.
The "small" 22X cams are good drivers with awesome midrange tq, but hitting 400whp is going to be difficult to say the least in a Stalled Cam Only Automatic. No way the 22X cam will do it.

I just put that cam in my car and it is wild. It is a very choppy idle. Muscle car cam. You will need a large stall to run it, just as Alex said. I have a 6speed and I am still trying to get used to it. Wow the power it has... but I almost think I went too much. It is an awesome cam... If you can get a good deal on it go for it... You can use your stock heads, but you have to order a set of dual springs good to .650 lift. And get some pushrods while you are at it. Call jon reynolds up at texas speed (sponsor) and he will get you hooked up. The duration on that cam I believe is 238/242... also is the lsa a 112 or a 113... the 113 will be slightly more streetable than the 112 is.

Good luck!

you now you want that cam and i will give you a hell of a price too, call John at Fuddle and see what he can do for a 3800-4000 stall, we know who can throw it in there for ya, and it will work fine on stock heads for now till you get the ported ones you were looking at.... if you dont like that cam, i have another one that you might like, its a G2 G5x3 if your interested. And as always price will be right

Ya with the MS3, you will need atleast a 3500 stall, and alot of tuning to make it streetable with idle and stuff like that so the car wont surge and jump at low RPM's. The cam definitely will pull HARD but you need to make sure its what you want. You will have to have a new ported ls6 oil pump, pushrods, timing chain, the dual valve springs, and all that good stuff.. As said above somewhere call texas speed

thanks guys, well im not sure if im gonna go cam only, cause if i do i will go with a diff cam because the MS3 is a waste w/o it.... maybe a 224/228 112LSA or 114LSA cam will do the job for cam only, and i think 400rwhp is possible-but more like 380-390 sounds correct, plus im gonna port the stock tb, and ls6 intake... plus some good tuning from my friend over at antivenom.....
