How many miles might I get out of my LS1?
I've just crossed the 93,000 mile mark on my 99 LS-1 and I expect to cross 100,000 miles this summer. I have started wondering just how long this motor is gonna last.
History:
This car is a daily driver. I drive a mix of city/highway.
It has never been drag raced although I certainly drive enthusiastically (it's a Firehawk, dammit).
The engine came filled with Castrol synthetic but the oil has been changed every 3500 miles or so with Mobil-1 5W-30 or 10W-30. The motor does not noticably use oil. By this I mean that the oil level still reaches the top mark of the dipstick after 3500 miles.
The only mods are an air lid, an MAF and a 160* thermostat.
I've never had any engine problems except for the EGR valve and once where I
pulled all the rockers off and put them back on for no good reason.
The only other things I have replaced on the motor have been the plugs, belts and hoses.
So how many miles can I expect out of this engine before a rebuild is neccessary?

[color:blue] Well, I don't know, but . . .
My wife's '93 T/A with LT1 engine has 150,000 miles, runs great, doesn't use oil.
When I sold my '85 IROC-Z Camaro it had over 200,000 miles, ran great didn't use oil.
My 2001 SS with LS1 has 12,000 miles, so I can't say how long it will last.
If you don't race and don't let the oil get low or dirty, it will last a long time. [/color]

I would expect the LS1 to be able to go well over 200,000 miles if properly cared for and not beat to death. I think your's has an excellent shot at 200,000 plus.
My 91 RS Camaro has 249,000 miles and counting. The RS is my daily driver. Orginal engine and tranny no work on either.

Take care of the car, and it'll run until you get tired of it. I've seen several LS1's at 100K+ miles. There's a guy up the street from me that has a 97 C5 with almost 200,000 miles on it. He drives back and forth to California for business.

LS1's will last awhile, just all depends on whos driving it, and what kind of wear and tear the motor is taking....
