Default Texas Giant / 408ci owners chime in!!!!

TSP owners,

HOw does your Texas Giant work/perform in your large Cubic Inch engine? I have a Trq2 right now...want something to work well with new SSI/BBK LS1 intake w/85mm TB...milled 243 heads with Patriot porting....everything else is forged and ready to go.....

It's a Daily Driver...but have no prob putting the foot into it at a stop light confrontation....

Please advise...

Not to bash but Why would you have a LS1 intake on a 408? Also I would think the 243 heads arn`t big enough for a big 408! But back to your question. I had a cam very close to that in my 408 before. Loved it! I have a 250 255 640 640 112 now. SWEEEEET!

Thats exactly what I wanted to hear/read!!!...My initial project was somewhat derailed by the "home finance committee".... (know what I mean...). btw- the 243s are CNC'd...flow at 300cfm+ @.600 lift. So, looking for cam references from other 408ci owners and any other advice/consultation that will make my combo scream...

I'm thinking about the Texas Giant from TSP....

BeardWS6,
So what intake would you recommend for a 408?...I don't see that the FAST 78/90 is a big advantage over the SSi/BBK intake...In fact the only issue is heat as far as I can tell.....but I'll welcome your analysis (facts only please)...thanks

You should be running the fast 90/90 for a 408 with that much cam. Just my 2 cents.

i'm pretty happy with my meager 244/248 considering i only have ported 243s also. an l92/76 setup puts up some great numbers if you can pick out a decent cam to match them and the combo is cheap.

Right on with the bigger head comment!..Budget is the only thing holding me back for awhile...have just enough for a cam.....so the Tex Giant should be right in the ball park for my set-up.... my dual springs are setup for .650 and the 243s flow best (300+cfm) at .600 too... so really anything with a lift at or above .600 would be perfect I think...

Any tips on the LSA?...
I think a 114 +4 will keep my IVC event at an acceptable ptv clearance...I have no problems right now with the Trq2 on a 113+2....040 gaskets, and Intake Valve closes - IVC 71.5 47 7.5 ABDC
my heads have 2cc reliefs...so would I need really need the +4 advance ?

What about duration?....is longer better here?....my stall is a VIG 3000 w/3.73 gears...I really just want to have a fast DD and go to the track a couple times...I appreciate all and any advice/consultation...
