Default TR Cam Users Come help!

OK, I have narrowed my cam choices down to 4 cams and would like help to the final one. I am looking at the TR 224/227, TR 227/224, TR 230/224, and MTI X1. As for what it's going into. I have a 2000 Camaro SS convertible A-4, with an SLP lid, Vig. 3000 stall, shift kit, SLP dual-dual cat back, cut-out, and a 100 shot through a NX Gemini MAF kit. I will be installing with the cam, PPC headers with 3 1/2" cat-y-pipe, and JPR S2 heads. I do most of my racing on the street and probably only use the nitrous once out of every dozen runs. So what do you think?

I have had all three of the TR cam you listed when I was running stock heads. Here is a comparison of all 3:

The 224/114 is the best all-around cam in my opinion. This is what I would recommend for you car, given the mods/plans you listed.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me.

The 224 was my main choice, till i recently spoke with JPR. He told me about the possible benifits from the TR227/224 over the TR224. This really got me thinking.

I think one thing to consider is if you want the cam to compliment your nitrous or if you want to maximize NA hp. I believe the regular split is better than the reverse split when on the nitrous but the reverse split has been making more on average it seems when going NA.

If you go with the TR230/224, you better be good at tuning or have a good tuner or it will be rough starting and troublesome at stoplights in gear. I have the TR230/224 in my A4 car and it was a little headache at first but my tuner did an EXCELLENT job getting everything dialed in and the car is running great so far!

Would ported heads made a difference on those dyno graphs. There's virtually no difference between the 3, on stock heads of course. I can't imagine it being too much different with stage 2 ported heads. I could be wrong though.

I have swapped the TR224 -> TR230 on 5 or 6 cars that had ported heads. Both showed similar gains. Only one car actually lost some low-end, but nearly every cars did pick up from 5500+.

I have the tr227/224, nice cam. My first cam so i do not have much to compare it to. GTPs2 heads also through catted slp long tubes 413/387. The heads and cam set up gave me 75rwhp and 50 torque. Not the best numbers but i am happy with them...for now.

I Have a New, Never installed TR 230/224. It comes with a spec sheet. $340shipped
Absolutly nothing wrong with it.
I don't know what the deal is lately. At this price. It should already be gone.

Thanks!
