Default Considering Cometic .040 gaskets...Shoudl I?

I'll be getting TSP H/C with a ported Fast 90. The 228r cam for sure with the LS6 heads I think. Now why would I want cometic .040 head gaskets over the regular GM ones. I guess it raises compression which = more power/torque?

If I got the 5.3 heads, I'd do stock gaskets. This brings me to this question: What heads would be better for my setup?? LS6's or the 5.3's? Maybe this should be another post?

I went with a stock Gm gasket because I had trouble getting the cometic's to seal in the past. Cometics will give better "Quench" which will = more HP and guard against detonation.

As for the heads, I would go AFR's milled to bump compression. ( not sure how much you can mill with that cam. If I were to go other than the AFR's second choice would be the Patriot performance LS6 heads. They seem to do better than the TSP heads I have seen.

Also, I gained 43rwhp & 33 rwtq with AFR's milled 0.030 & stock GM gaskets.

I can't exactly afford AFR's. The entire car is being repainted, new clutch and all the goodies, ported Fast 90, and H/C this summer. Thats my problem.
