Track Results BBK SSI vs. Mamo Ported FAST
Hey Guys, I know this doesnt really belong in the internal section but I am very exited with these results and I know this section gets a lot of traffic. I recently built a new motor for my truck and felt that I was lacking a little in the Intake area due to a few more cubic inches. The BBK worked great on my 5.3L and Is an excellent intake. Here are my new results.
Background on the truck
2002 Chevrolet S-10 Xtreme
370CID Iron Block
Stock Crank and rods
Diamond Flat tops with -2cc reliefs
Patriot Stage II LS6 Heads 64cc
Comp 228/230 .571/.573 112+4
Shorty 1 5/8" headers ( I Know they are tiny)
Trans is a home bult 4L60E
Yank SS3600 Converter
Currie Enterprises 9" w/3.73s
WEIGHT: 3800 w/driver
Results from BBK SSI

Results from Tony Mamo Ported FAST 90MM w. Nick Williams TB

1/8 7.500
MPH 92.04
1000 9.831
1/4 11.788
MPH 117.55
Thats a 6 MPH Gain Needless to say I am very impressed.
Now for all of you Considering the Mamo Ported FAST, I can say that the workmanship put into this is worth every single penny you spend. Tony puts countless hours into making these intakes perform how they do and it really shows. Unfortunatly to protect Tonys business I cant post pictures of the runners but they are completly reshaped and smoothed. There is a lot of time spent making sure there are no obstructions in the path of the airflow.
The part that really surpised me was how smooth he is able to make the transitions. If you didnt know what a stock FAST intake runner looks like you may not even know someone was working on the intake. Tonys customer service is second to none! I can't imagine how much time he must spend returning PM's and speaking with people. I can tell you I single handedly bombarded his inbox for weeks about this intake and every single PM was returned with a very thoughfull and fully explained responce, never once was I given a short answer or a push to the side.
I had my reservations about spending the extra money for Tony's porting work or just bolting it on stock out of the box (as Im sure a lot of you do as well). After seeing some of Tony's other results and speaking and PM'ing him a few times, I felt comfortable it was the right move. Needless to say I'm ecstatic about the results and couldn't be happier about my decision to have him go thru it. I hope my experience makes it a little easier for some of you to pull the trigger....you wont be disappointed!
Now lets add a little nitrous to the mix
125HP jets
60' 1.586

1/8 6.903
MPH 101.74
1000 9.034
1/4 10.816
MPH 129.01
I hope this helps the to Mamo or not to Mamo decision

Without a question one of the more bizarre gains from the addition of one of my ported intakes.
Even assuming his former intake was 10 worse than an LS1 or LS2 intake (two of the weakest stock cathedral port designs), a 40 RWHP gain still wouldn't add up to that gain in trap speed.
When James (Black X) asked me what I thought of the results I told him I should have charged him more....
Hell....he must have gotten at least one pony for every PM he sent me! (Sorry....I couldn't resist!!)
Seriously though, numerous PM's aside, it was good dealing with him and I'm obviously pleased things worked out so well. While Im sure there were other factors at play here, the results are the results and every now and then you get a surprise on the upside with the addition of a certain mod....helps compensate for all those mods that were a bit disappointing and we have all been there!!
Cheers,
Tony

If that were the case, then I would owe Patrick like $500. The bad part (actually extremely good part) is that Gunnar is completely re-doing my used Patriot heads I bought for free....gonna have to slightly adjust for whatever changes are made and speak to my chief engineer.
Once again, a ported 90/90 proves its worth, which is why I continually promote them and will eventually have one.

on another note I raced on a day that was 30* warmer and at a completely different track about 1000ft higher in elevation and still did 112.73MPH a Solid gain over the BBK even if it were at the same track.

As Ive mentioned in a few of my other posts, Im not affiliated with FAST in any way, shape, or form. I simply want the best cathedral head manifold on my car and recommend the same to my customers. When Im convinced a better one has come along, you can bet your bottom dollar I will run and recommend that.
