Default Girl for the Win

First off, yes I am a girl with a WS6 and......

Second, I need a bigger cam than the guys around town

So...... Which one for best overall power? ( I plan on doing gears and headers with the cam install )

G5X4
or
T-Rex

So far there are already a ton of cam only cars in town
Ms3
Ms4
T-rex
G5X3
Torque V2
228
225
224

The two guys on top are the G5X3 and Ms3, so I don't want to have a small cam.

i would go with the ms4. the gx and trex are to way different cams.. the trex is a MONSTER. if you want a car that will put out amazing numbers go with that but if this is a dd then your not going to like the drivability. if your doing gears and headers thats good but with a cam that big go with a new rear end. also if you want to wax their *** i would go with a ms4 on a 112 lsa and throw a 150 shot on there. youll be in 11s with out a doubt and maybe 10 if your a good driver

One of the guys we run around with has the ms4 and I have not been that impressed with it. About the drivability, I have a friend that tuned his g5x3 for drivability and his drives like it is stock and he is going to do mine when I decide to do the mods, so that is not an issue.

I liked TREX in my 408, should be big enough for you

Of course there are better things than big cams, like big turbos

easy:

AFR, ETP, or Trickflow heads
custom matching cam
good tune

it may not sound like a pro stocker, but wait until you roar past all of them

Sister,....you can put the biggest cam in the world but if you dont let the car,... move the air fule mixture it will not perform like it sounds like you want it to!!! You want to get,.... BIG intake,....BIG intake manifold, Big hedders Big pipes ( X-pipe?) and big axcel back. Ya this will take a little time and a plan. Nothing that you can not handle!

I would call Ron at Vengeance. The Vindicator cams are making some great power. I just put mine in my new 347 short block w/Trickflow 215cc heads and FAST 90/90 should have numbers soon.

ported fast 90/90 vengance cam/tune. on a brighter side, my buddy ben just put in a g5x4 in his ls6 and made 460rwhp and i think around 400rwtq but he spins it to 7k and the power band keeps going

Since nobody else pointed it out.

If all you have is whats in your sig, then you really need to invest in a set of headers. Correction, a set of GOOD headers becasue its pointless to have a cam that big (also a lot of overlap) with exhaust that dosent flow.

yeah do some true duals... but yeah bigger is not always better. there are bolt on cars in here running 11's and small cam cars running 10's. get all your sopporting mods FIRST, and then do a nice h/c set up. i dont get why you arent impressed with the ms3 or ms4 cams... iono jus my .02

Make Sure you get a set of Gears in the car.... won't be much fun if you make 430whp@6000rpm but takes 3 seconds to get into your power band.

Im just curious about your mods? Why do you have an '04 5.7 GTO motor?? Did your stock one go? And remember a motor is electrical and engine makes the power!

Do your bolt on's first. Then do a cam, and when you do decide what to go with, I would replace alot of internal parts!!!

Get Long Tube headers first or you won't see the total benifit from the cam.

Good luck,

Al

no headers?!?!?! you're going to be doin' a lot more pollutin' so youre gonna need those LTs. and have you thought about valvetrain? i cant believe no one brought that up. im doing a cam but, only after i get my car's time as low as possible with full bolts on and suspension.

also, are you single?
