My TR224 on a 112 lsa produces 310 RWTQ at 2,000 and 350 RWTQ at 3,000. Thats with stock heads and full boltons. Can't wait to make some money this summer and put a set of heads on it. I've heard some good things about the T2 and i was gonna go with it but i decided on the TR224 and i love it. My torque peaks out at about 4,700 and horsepower at 6,000 so i dont have to rev the **** out of it to make decent power.

I've got the T2 myself, and am happy with it. The 4.10s make up for any lack of grunt down low...
I don't have any dyno information below 2500 rpms, but at 2500 I'm making 312 rwtq, and at 3000 i'm making 340. But then it really climbs 372 at 4700 to 5500 peak power at 6400 (410rwhp - On a conservative Mustang Dyno) It will carry 400hp+ clear past 6800 if i wanted to rev it that far... but 6600 is my Limiter.
The T2 definately surges a bit down around 1000-1300 RPMs, but as long as i'm on the throttle just a little bit it doesn't buck... Besides, i usually keep it around 1500-1800 rpms... (I've got a really solid Tune btw) The cam also has no problems idling...

when you say it feels like its surging and weak down low...is that just cause it pulls so hard up top, it feels weaker than stock down low or is it similar power down low as stock?

Thats the funny thing, mine isn't below stock until somewhere below 2500 rpms (Like i said i don't have the dyno #'s below that... ) but the TQ hasn't crossed yet so i'm assuming somewhere below 2500 it peters off... Below 3000 feels weak, but really it's just weak compared to after 3000, because it's still stronger than stock by a good margin... lol
Also, the surging, or bucking is only around 1200 rpms, (after 1300 there really isn't ANY problems) and i'm pretty sure it's weaker than stock around that RPM... (600-1800) there's too much overlap on this cam to build a lot of TQ down below 2000...

This may be a total dur-dur question, but what about a compromise between the TR224 and the TV2? Like the Texas-Speed 228R (228/228 .588/.588). I want a cam that will work as well as possible with ported heads, but the car is a DD in alot of stop/go traffic. M6/3.70 rear.

I dont think Im gonna have problems with my setup...
TV3 and 5.3 stage 2.5 heads...
I dont think its gonna be any slower from 1k - 2.5k than my stock car and thats fine, as long as after 3000 it pulls harder than before... I just hope it isnt slower than a stock cam under 2000rpms...
also I have 3.73s through a 12 bolt.

I've got a 4.10 rear, so even LOW in the RPM range my rig pulls hard... even in high gear it's at least strong enough to pass adequately...
Also, i don't know about the rest of you guys, but My car came with a transmission... i'm not afraid to shift, nor do i hesitate to grab a gear if i really want by somebody. All this "I don't want to down shift..." business cracks me up. Get a Diesel and mope around with 700lb-ft of torque if you really want to sit in the 1000 RPM range all day...
Sorry but i'm just getting tired of people who rag on H/C setups for making peak power past 3,000 RPMs... I mean seriously - no matter what cam choice you go with, this engine will most likely make 250-350lb-ft of torque from 1200+ RPM... how much god damn torque do you really need in that range just "Daily Driving"

Not 100% on this for others, but in my context they're one in the same...
The surging/bucking i get in the 900-1200rpm range is only at 0% throttle... or maybe as high as 2-4%... but as long as i'm giving it like 6-10% throttle, it doesn't buck at any RPM... and the bucking is long gone by 13-1400... So the bucking isn't something i notice until i get behind somebody who keeps varying their speed... and instead of holding a constant throttle position, i'm off and on it all the time correcting for their inconsistencies..
It's really not that bad, it may sound worse over a forum, but i'd give ya a ride if you're local, and you can judge for yourself. I don't even notice it any more really...

i like my Comp 224 and im putting down 444rwhp w/it currently. just swapped exhaust from LT's/ORY/SLP LM to TSP true duals w/SLP LM resonators(no retune yet) and im curious to what gains if any i might have picked up. i didnt care for the sweet thunder resonators that I got w/the system...

I have a TSP 231/237 i want to put in my car, but making what I am now makes me want to keep the 224 and sell off the 23/237. if there 10-15rwhp at high RPM difference between the two cams that means i could be sitting between 460-470rwhp w/a stock bottom end engine and that's just crazy...

I agree - you're making GREAT power for a 224, i'd imagine with a 23x+ Cam you'd make even more, and thats kind of mind boggling! LOL
As far as which cam is better? I'd say it's a tough call and really depends on what you want to do with the car....
I'm sure with my setup - a 224R would've made even less TQ and Power than the TV2, and i didn't have the dough to spring for $4,000 heads to get the flow from a 224 to put me where i wanna be... So i went with the slightly longer winded cam... it may have dropped some power down low, but 3k+ is all I care about if i'm driving "Spirited" and when i'm Daily Driving it the TV2 makes plenty of TQ for putting around town...

Mine is set to idle at 900-950. It usually fires right up to ~1200 rpm... then slowly settles back down to 900... w/o any surging or reving... and if i blip it, it'll come down quickly, until about 1200... then it slowly falls the last couple hundred RPM to 900... making sure not to drop too fast, sputter, and Cam Surge.
When Warm, idling at 900 i get a good shake, a little chop and lope, and it occasionally stumbles to 700, and back up...
