Default Valve spring

I'm having a problem w/ my car in which it is backfiring like crazy with a flashing SES light @ times. I'm getting the spark plugs changed Friday and was wondering if it turns out to be a valve spring would replacing it with another stock brand new valve spring be ok? I wouldn't think w/ my mods that I should upgrade them yet without a different cam being in the motor! Any help would be appreciated!

Your not going to do any damage with some stiffer springs. But unless your planning on a cam later on down the road, or you trying to spin the RPMs higher, i would just pick up some stockers on the board here for cheap. this being said, dont go out and buy some crazy dual-springs, but maybe some comp 918's would work.

I was just looking at doing some stock ones being I don't have the dough right now for much more!!!!

No problem man, like i said, if your not planning on doing a cam, save some money and buy some stockers.

The LS6 springs are $55/set. I rebuilt my stock 241 heads with these springs and they are a little better than the originals to boot.

Do you think a dealer would have about the same price? Also I wonder what the labor is going to be if I have to r2 my springs?

If no cam down the road, then I agree with the LS6 (orange/yellow striped) springs.

Damn i completely forgot about the ls6 springs. These would definetly be your best bet. They are stronger then the Ls1 springs, but they are still cheap, and not overkill for what your going to be using them on.

Get them from SDPC or another vendor, the dealer won't give you the price I quoted >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
