Default $2000

What can $2000 buy these days as far as a moderate H/C combo goes? The car will no be daily driven. It'll be taken out on nice days, I don't have a particular hp amount in mind. But I figure with a about a 3400-3600 stall, I would like the car to see 11's. I know all cams are priced very closely and relatively cheap, but I don't want anything that's going to require spring maintenance every 20,000 miles. Optimally the springs would never have to be changed (I don't know how realistic that is.)

So, the choice of heads will probably be limited by the budget, I know the PRC LS6 CNC ported heads are under $1,000. But most heads are more expensive.

Essentially, my question is: What mild to moderate cam will go well with a cheaper set of heads, and a 3400-3600 stall

You can get any of Texas Speeds h/c packages for less than $2000.00. Just choose a package and pick the cam you want. The 228 cam would be mild to moderate and should help you reach your goal of 11's. Oh, and get the PRC dual springs for longevity.

the patriot heads, dual springs, small 230ish cam

you will have to do springs regardless with any cam swap and not driving it much will require maintence as it will sit longer . like every few years though nothing to serious

On that budget I'd definetly get a package from TSP. Talk to Jon, he'll hook you up.

Also don't forget all the other parts like timing chain, oil pump & so on.

2000 will buy you a lot with these cars now as prices continue to come down due to competition. I mean crap, theres stainless steel headers with matching ypipe going for 550 shipped i believe in the sponsor section, thats retarded!!! If you want good heads, try to find them used as you will get a better deal.

I would start with getting air in/out if you haven't already. Air lid, LS6 intake, Headers, cutout or catback. And then a 224 or 228 cam kit.

If you already have that stuff, it's easy... TSP H/C package. I would look at the torquer III if you can tune or afford to get one done. If not, stay with the 224 as it should drive without a tune.

ASA cam is about the best 'decent' cam you're gonna find that you won't have to change springs on regularly. It won't make the power the others will but 11's should still be in reach. The ASA cam is a road course cam but is pretty stout all around. That cam with some good heads (that focus on airflow under .530 lift will still net you a pretty stout combo. I don't know what heads would be best in this department as everyone's looking for what flows best at .600 lift. Maybe Patrick G can help you out.

DAMN...$1895 is a crazy price for that, theres no way you will find a better brand new package for that kinda money. Wish the cam choices were a little better but maybe if you call they could hook you up with something else.

Well spotted, thats the one I ordered too. I've edited my original post to correct my error.

$1895 seemed a good bargain to me too, so I ordered it, just need to find time to put them on with help of a mechanic, and finding a place to put my car to work on it.
