Running PRC dual golds with MS3, now going to smaller cam and have some ?'s...
As the title reads, I am currently running a set of PRC 5.3 heads with an MS3...the valve springs are the dual PRC golds, good to .650 lift I believe....
I decided to swap cams to something smaller, the equivalent to a g5x1 to be exact.
I have some questions...
Will the springs need to be swapped as well? If not, will the seat pressure created by the Golds be a bit much for a cam with .588 lift? Remember, the MS3 is .603/.609
***as a side note, is it a good rule of thumb to always change valve springs when changing cams?
THANKS!

i have the TSP 228R with PRC duals pretty much the same as Patriolt Golds, been running that setup for almost a year/10k miles. so the're fine for a .588 lift, XER Lobe cam.
how many miles do you currently have on the patriots ? from there you can decide whether or not to replace them. if you have less than 10k miles, i think it would be ok to keep them.

When I put my heads on I had the option of keeping my old Patriots which had maybe 5k miles on them. But I decided to put on new ones just for peace of mind. Plus those lobes a pretty aggressive. You are going to be under there anyway what's another couple hundred bucks?

Well I am planning on spraying a nice 50-75 shot at the track, and the MS3 may be a bit much for the stock bottom end to handle with that shot...
plus, yes, the powerband is a BIT high....I picked up a 228/232 112+4...aka STREET SWEEPER lol..
I am still debating whether to put it in or not though...I do love the MS3 90% of the time...too bad my idle is ****

And you can easily spray a 50-75 shot on your current setup. Once again, make a safe tune, dont spray in the lower RPM's to keep your torque in check, and it will be fine.
