knock sensor
okay my car makes a noise when exellerating from a roll like 40 to 70 so i took it to a shop and they said it could be the knock sensor. So i guess i'm asking if it could make the engine run like it is and is $475 sound like a good price to get it fix. thanks for the help

I didn't think the knock sensor makes noise. It only senses noise caused by other things, such as a knock from low grade of fuel or detonation?
In reaserching for my LS6 intake install,I saw some pics of the well where the sensors are mounted and some filled with moisture. That could probably cause a problem.
I would be a little leary of any shop that said it could PROBABLY be something or other.Just a thought.Get a second opinion.

i'm running on 87 octane and it doesn't have a code the guy said that moisture could get in it and mess it up without it telling the computer that it wasn't working and i think the sensors cost 75-100 dollars i think its high to i was planning on putting headers on my car but with this looks like i'll have to wait

well i'm going to try running 93 octane and see if that helps. I also thought that what you were supposed to run but where i bought the car said to put 87 in it but i'll try that and hopefully that will help
I replaced both of mine cause of a miss-fire and a low voltage code. I think I only paid like 65.00 or 70.00 bucks. Mine were full of water, I'm guessing from washing my motor off. After I replaced 'em, I put a little RTV around the caps and try not to soak the motor when washing it.

All LS1's deserve 93 octane.
I use 91, and my car will knock in the lower RPMs under high load. I wish we could get 93 here in California.
Also, I think that having 126K mi on it, it might have some carbon in the combustion chambers...
I also think part of the the problem is my PCV is sucking a little too much oil vapor for my likes I had a "Walmart" cathcan on it a while ago and it seemed to trap a decent amount of oil. I took my oil fill cap off the other day and a little bit of smoke seeped out for a few minutes.
I do have the regular LS1 knock sensors, not the updated ones(I think they had an update to keep the moisture out), I think...
