Thanks again, LS1Tech, Pat G & Tony Mamo.
Thanks for the welcome...we are trying one last combo this weekend to see if we can get another 2 or 3 HP. Does anybody know the record for a stock low end NA ls6 car?

Those heads are perfectly capable of getting you to 500rwhp with stock short block. But you can't cut corners on the supporting mods. The exhaust has to be done by the book. The valve control needs to be outstanding at 7000 rpm. The intake can have no chokes in it and the FAST better be ported by a master. Like I said, making the power is easier than it was 5 or 6 years ago. Cams are better. Heads are better. Intakes and headers are better. But too many of you still cut corners with the whole supporting mods. That's why so many fall short. If you follow the recipe and have it tuned by a pro, you should have no problems hitting the number.

Help me out. What NA combination do you have that has made this power to the ground?

Patrick, I just got me the TR Trak Cam, I'm looking to get good heads for it, How much cc can I mill my stock 241 heads with stock valves for that cam to clear PTV? For later on the road, Would AFR 205 62cc clear PTV?

I've been considering using those heads seeing how they are the same heads as the shops 9.66sec car. I noticed in your posts that you prefer AFR heads that Tony custom ports for you, does this gain more midlift flow vs the 227 off the shelf? I've pm'd you before regarding my setup and you mentioned that my exhaust setup would not be good to 500 rwhp. Exhaust will be 1 7/8 lt's 3" true duals with x pipe. Is the tsp 100mm Maf considered a choke? Ill be using a 104mm lid.

1 7/8" long tubes with 3" true duals + x pipe is more than adequate for exhaust. A 100mm MAF and 104mm lid are plenty big enough too. The PRC 227 heads are certainly good enough for 500rwhp. I've tuned a 6.0L that head them and it exceeded 500rwhp with ease. Great heads. Gotta make sure the intake manifold is properly ported and you're done!

How can you calculate how much to shim the springs to avoid valve float as I saw you've done on your setup? Also is it possible to possibly go with a head that's to big? I'm split between tsp 227 and AFR 210 or 230's.

Read this>>> http://www.kmotion.biz/instht.htm

.060 from coil bind is what most recommend. A lot of people just slap the springs in and go but this is really how it should be done...

Since that cam has a 114 degree ICL, you can figure like this:

231/2 = 115.5

Ivo = 114 - 115.5 = -1.5 or 1.5 degrees BTDC
Ivc = 114 + 115.5 = 229.5 or 49.5 degrees ABDC (229.5 - 180)

Exhaust centerline is 120, otherwise the math is the same premise.

Evo = 120 + 115.5 = 235.5 or 55.5 BBDC (235.5 - 180)
Evc = 120 - 115.5 = 4.5 BTDC

Patrick G: If you were building a 500+ recipe today in your old M6 WS6 with a 5.7 LS1, what would your "recipe" be?

What do you think you could gain by upping it to a 383?
