.027 Quench to tight???

Default .027 Quench to tight???

Not sure which way to go. Here is the combo: AFR 225 68cc, Cometic .040, 3cc pistons with a .013 deck height, cam is in sig. My dilema is either go with the Cometic or stock .052 GM headgaskets...........

I run .036 cometics on a stock shortblock .008 positive deck with no isues.These blocks grow like a wedding night ***** when they warm up.

Why don't you just go with a .045 Cometic gasket and have a damn near perfect quench?

I have .027 cometics but my pistons are in the hole .005.

If you let the engine get up to operating temp before you get on it, it will be fine. The aluminum blocks grow about .012" in deck height from room temp to operating temp.

So, people running .032 quench are actually running .044 at operating temp? Why doesn't everyone run a .020 (cold) quench then if the block grows that much?
