Default 6.0 build

alright im looking to build a iron block 6.0l what would you guys recommend for pistons and rods looking to make a little over 600 probly gonna spray on it. im planning on using the factory crank i under the understanding its the same as the ls1. i have a set of 853 heads ill be puttin on it for now that will be p&p with a ls6 intake and a patrick g specd cam.any help would be greatly appreciated being i dont know a whole lot about buildin motors

i reccommend getting a 5.7 crank,it's lighter with the same stoke

yea and i read alittle bit ago that the truck cranks not compatible

If you're dead set on the iron block I'd relocate the battery to the rear.

That's going to end up being a 370 depending on how much you hone it. I suggest .030 as that'll give you a final bore size of 4.030. There's plenty of off the shelf pistons in that size that are compatible with 6.125 rods which you are going to want to upgrade to.

The flow is what's going to kill you most likely vs. higher end builds. I know you said you're going to send your heads out to Patriot which is an excellent idea. Needless to say you aren't going to hit 600 without the bottle unless you have crazy 14:1+ compression.

I really like this write up that Patrick G wrote about the 500hp 346. The same approach can be taken towards building any engine. You really have to take into account the small things. Valve train stability, mass, exhaust flow, and so many other things. I'll talk to you about it at some point soon. I should make it to sonic this Saturday as I don't have to work.

EDIT: My past 5 posts in here haven't counted. I'm also getting the data base error every single time I post which is also pissing me off!

ill help put it in, on the way to your house ill stop by home depo... i mean the auto parts superstore, and get some zip tie.... i mean "specialty auto parts"...

yea i read patricks thread im gonna have him spec the cam once the motors built. and yea im looking like 450 - 500hp motor and the rest pray for now.
